Vision = God’s Gift

ACIM Workbook Lesson 42 – for Friday, February 11, 2011

Affirmation:  “God is my strength.  Vision is His gift.”

Selected Passage:

“Your passage through time and space is not at random.  You cannot but be in the right place at the right time.  Such is the strength of God.  Such are His gifts.  (WB65)”

Reflections:

1 – A Reassuring Passage

This is one of the more reassuring passages in the Workbook.  “You cannot but be in the right place at the right time.”  This passage opens up a controversial point that is not often discussed by Course students.  Is predestination an appropriate belief?  There are a number of other times in ACIM that predestination seems right on target, but the term is not used.

2 – We Are Remembering?

We will need to study ACIM well to try to determine for ourselves if indeed we actually walk a walk that has been completed already.  A literal reading of ACIM would say that we do.  We are remembering, going back in time.  This is one of the metaphysical teachings of ACIM that is difficult to understand, and perhaps in our world it is not possible to fully understand.

3 – The Right Place at the Right Time

Being in the right place at the right time is characterized in this passage as a gift of God.  May we thank Him today for this reassurance.

Prayer:

Dear Father/Mother,

You are today reassuring me that I cannot but be in the right place at the right time.  My pathway through my lifetime is not at random.  Help me to be reassured by this assertion.  I do not fully understand how I stand at the end of time, and that time rolls up, like a carpet, taking me back to the beginning.  But A Course in Miracles tells me this, and I will try to wrap my mind around this concept.

Be with me today as I try to live the life that You would have me live.  Help me to love and be loved, to be at peace with myself and my brothers and sisters in this world and beyond.

Amen.
