Selected Passage:
“I am the Son of God. No body can contain my spirit, nor impose on me a limitation God created not. (WB207)”
Affirmation: “I will accept my part in God’s plan for salvation.”
Selected Passage:
“What can my function be but to accept the Word of God Who has created me for what I am and will forever be. (WB207)”
Reflections:
We see again today that we are called the Sons of God. Heretofore in this blog I have not addressed the masculine nature of the language. The language fulfills the message of the Bible, which normally saw God in the masculine. Moreover, in the 1960s, when A Course in Miracles was channeled, the world did not see an emphasis on inclusiveness in language. I was taught clearly in my English classes that the masculine “he” included the feminine “she”; it was just assumed. So let us understand, and not hold against ACIM, a feature that has emerged later in our culture: the inclusiveness of the specifically feminine in language. We can always assume the feminine is meant to be a part of importance also.
What is this “Word of God” which has created me? The pronoun “Who” is capitalized, and this emphasis of capitalization is normally reserved for God and for the Holy Spirit. In this context, it appears that this is a way of speaking about God. He “spoke” and we were created. But let us not try to delve too deeply into theological speculation, because Jesus says that this will only divide us. It is with the practical that ACIM is concerned (an ACIM tenet).
We are spirit. This emphasizes the fact that we have a Self that is over and above the physical with which we are usually concerned. We do not have to concern ourselves always with the physical, knowing that there is a spirit Self that oversees our pathway in this world.
Prayer:
Dear Father/Mother,
I would know this Higher Self Who directs my personal wanderings through this world. I know that my body does not contain all of me; my spirit does. Help me to know my spirit today, on this Easter day.
Be with me as I go through the day, keeping my mood lightened and my joy full. On this day of the resurrection, let me be glad that there are still some things that I cannot fully comprehend. I will comprehend one day in the future.
Amen.
