No One Can Fail Who Seeks to Reach the Truth

ACIM Workbook Lesson 146 – for Thursday, May 26, 2011

Affirmation:  “My mind holds only what I think with God.”

Selected Passage:

“No one can fail who seeks to reach the truth.
“I loose the world from all I thought it was.  (WB276)”

Reflections:

This passage is a promise that we will go Home, and while still on earth (if we so desire).  The “truth” is our desire for Awakening, and Awakening will not be long in coming for those who have truly sought.  We may, paradoxically, have to stop seeking and rest in quiet, though.  Constant seeking is a distraction.  A Course of Love makes clear that there is a time when we “know enough.”  Habits of seeking are not always easily loosed, though.

“No one can fail who seeks to reach the truth.”  A glorious promise, not to be overlooked in ACIM.  When we let go of our misperceptions about the world, we will be in a better position to have the truth revealed to us.  We do not have to rush and hurry, hither and yon, for the truth.  We need only quiet ourselves and seek within.

We thought the world was best mastered by our judgments about it.  But ACIM says that our learning has been awry; we need to leave judgment to the Holy Spirit, Who knows all the variables.  This idea is contrary to all that we have previously been taught about “good judgment,” but there is a lengthy chapter in the Manual that would set us straight.  We cannot judge accurately, because we do not see the whole situation.  Is it not better, then, to leave decisions up to guidance of the Holy Spirit, Who makes no mistakes?  (Of course, we can misread the Holy Spirit, especially if we are caught in egotistical turmoil.  So let us be careful that we are following the path that God would lay out for us.)

Prayer:

Dear Mother/Father,

I would follow guidance today.  Let me be still and listen for that guidance.  May I have a still and peaceful day, but with energy to do Your will.  You will be there for me, as always.  I do not doubt Your presence, even when I am embroiled in an ego-oriented dream, and too distracted to feel that You are there.

Be with me as I seek inward toward You.  You are the All, and may I take my part in the drama that is unfolding on this earth.

Amen.
