Recognize Yourself in a Blazing Light

ACIM Workbook Lesson 67 – for Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Affirmation:  “Love created me like itself.”

Selected Passage:

“You may find it necessary to repeat the idea for today from time to time to replace distracting thoughts.  You may also find that this is not sufficient, and that you need to continue adding other thoughts related to the truth about yourself.  Yet perhaps you will succeed in going past that, and through the interval of thoughtlessness to the awareness of a blazing light  in which you recognize yourself as Love created you.  Be confident that you will do much today to bring that awareness nearer, whether you feel you have succeeded or not.  (WB113)”

Reflections:

Repeating today’s idea (affirmation) is important, because we do not fully understand what it is saying until we repeat it.  “Love” here is God.  We know that God is Love, and this is what we are reiterating to ourselves.

It is lovely to realize that at some point today we may be aware of a “blazing light” in which we recognize that God is our creator.  It is a Text tenet that all too often we forget that God created us, and that we think, erroneously, that we created ourselves.  Of course, this makes no sense if we delve deeply enough.  And we don’t fully understand God, for how could we?  We know that He is both inner and outer, that He is the All.  (A statement said repeatedly by Jane Roberts in the Seth books of an earlier generation.)  The blazing light can show us the truth of God in a revelatory manner, if we are open to receiving revelation from God.

We can also ask for a miracle to show us this blazing light.  Jesus is in charge of miracles, and he guides us to them.  Self-directed miracles are likely to be misguided (a Text tenet).

If Love created us like itself, then we are meant to understand that God is within, and that we share His attributes.  We do not share them in totality, of course, but the indications are there.  We would do well today to dwell on these thoughts.  There is more here than meets the eye.

Prayer:

Dear Father/Mother,

There is much that I do not understand about creation, about my creation.  Help me to come closer to understanding today.  May that blazing light that Jesus speaks about find its way into my consciousness.  I ask for a miracle today, to see how it is that Love created me like Itself.

Be with me today, as I seek a new particular understanding, one that I have not touched until today.  I did not previously know that I could touch such understanding.  Help me to be patient while I wait for You to speak to my heart.
