ACIM Workbook Lesson 94 – for Monday, April 4, 2011
Affirmation: “I am as God created me.”
“Today we continue with the one idea which brings complete salvation; the one statement which makes all forms of temptation powerless; the one thought which renders the ego silent and entirely undone. You are as God created you. The sounds of this world are still, the sights of this world disappear, and all the thoughts that this world ever held are wiped away forever by this one idea. Here is salvation accomplished. Here is sanity restored. (WB164)”
The selected passage is a favorite of long-term students/teachers of ACIM. Jesus repeats, “You are as God created you,” a number of times in the Workbook. We have trouble with this tenet. We think that we have changed; we think that we have fallen. But all of this is illusion, maya (in Eastern terminology). We are still the Self that knows no sin. And in this assurance we can rest content.
We want our sanity restored. We do not often understand that we really live in madness, in insanity. That is actually the state of this world. And only when we have had our sanity restored will we be ready for Jesus’s full message to flower in our lives. There is great beauty in the sentence, “The sounds of this world are still, the sights of this world disappear, and all the thoughts that this world ever held are wiped away forever by this idea. (See above)” “This idea” is the truth that we are as God created us.
May we believe this today.
Be with me today as I rest in Your assurance that my ego is undone. My ego has caused me great distress, and I would have it wither away, to be replaced by the innocence that is my birthright as Your child.
Help me to stay calm and easy, to realize that the ego has never given me anything that I did not pay for with tears. May I be fully joyous today.
