God’s Peace Is with Me

ACIM Workbook Lesson 245 – for Friday, September 2, 2011

Affirmation:  “Your peace is with me, Father.  I am safe.”  

“Your peace surrounds me, Father.  Where I go, Your peace goes there with me.  It sheds its light on everyone I meet.  I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid.  I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness.  Send them to me, my Father.  Let me bring Your peace with me.  For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self.

“And so we go in peace.  To all the world we give the message that we have received.  And thus we come to hear the Voice for God, Who speaks to us as we relate His Word; Whose Love we recognize because we share the Word that He has given unto us.  (WB416)”

Reflections:

This are prayerful comments from Jesus.  We are reminded that our duty is to save our brothers and sisters, but to do that (we learn from other part of ACIM), we must first be healers.  We must be healed ourselves; we cannot be “unhealed healers,” or we will not be effective in our chosen vocation (i.e., being healers).

How do we become healed ourselves?  We study, we learn, and we commune with God.  We do not feel that it is all up to us.  We have the guidance of the Holy Spirit always.  If we are not flexible enough to turn on a dime, we will miss many opportunities to do His Will, and that will be a pity.  The Holy Spirit is our Communicator with God (a tenet of the Text), and we would do well to ask for more and more guidance.  We are not bereft of comfort ourselves.  We are never alone.

We listen with our heart, not just our mind (a tenet of A Course of Love, which some view as a sequel to ACIM, a sequel channeled by Jesus).  We must not lose ourselves in trying to do good, because choosing which miracles we will perform is a sure way to take the wrong turn.  The miracles we choose ourselves will be misguided (a Text tenet).

Listen to the words of Jesus in ACIM, listen to the intuitive guidance of the Holy Spirit, and thereby be guided into which miracles to perform.  We will be answered every time we ask.  As many in churches have proclaimed, we are the hands and feet of Jesus in this world.  He needs our cooperation to bring everyone to the recognition that he/she is One with God.  The return may take millions of years, just as the separation was over millions of years (a Text statement).  But the end if certain (also a Text statement).  We will all find our way home.

Prayer:

Dear Father/Mother,

I would extend Your peace to all that cross my path today.  I thank You that life has calmed down, for the moment, and I am reach outward more without preoccupations with my own personal self.  Help me to find the way to the Self that You love.  I would be all that You would wish for my brothers and sisters, and myself.

Thank You for the ease of this day.  I thank You for struggle is alien to Your Will, and that when we struggle, it is likely that we are being influenced by an ego that has not withered away.  I would be a healed healer, as Jesus asks.  Help me to know how to respond to those in need.  Be with  me as I seek to an instrument of Your peace.  When I fail, please restore my good humor, and help me to try again.
