“If it helps you, think of me holding your hand and leading you. And I assure you this will be no idle fantasy. (WB120)”
Affirmation: “Jesus is holding my hand.”
Reflections:
1 – Is Jesus Present Always?
What does this promise from Jesus really mean? I think that it means just what it says. Jesus is a risen Master, who is available to all of us at any time. His presence is not limited by time nor space.
2 – Hard to Believe?
We may find this hard to believe, and we do not need to be divided by theology of A Course in Miracles. Actually it is quite possibly that Jesus can “clone” himself to be everyone, all the time. We are learning more about things like this from new physics.
3 – Personal Experience
I do often use this technique of visualizing Jesus being with me, especially at night as I lie in bed waiting for sleep to come. It is an enormously calming technique. And, if you wish, you can imagine that it is just your imagination (though Jesus says otherwise in this passage).
4 – No Idle Fantasy
When we need his help, Jesus promises that visualizing him holding our hand and leading us will be no “idle fantasy.” What a great promise this is! His love shows through in every word. He will be there for us, even when all the rest in the world do not seem to care.
5 – Jesus Is with Us
Jesus will lead us. He will make the pathway smooth. This is one of the best promises of the Course, one of the greatest consolers.
Prayer:
Dear Father/Mother,
As I walk through this day, besieged by the ego trying to gain a foothold in me, please help me to realize that Jesus is a risen Master who can help me. May I drop the ego’s wily ways by realizing that nothing the ego ever wanted for me is actually something that I want. I only want You. Help me to realize the truth of this statement, ever more presently with me all through the day.
May I sense Jesus’s presence nearby. I do believe, though I do not know the scientific laws that the miracle would overrule. May the miracle rule today. There is no greater nor lesser miracle possible; all are easy for the risen Master.
Amen.
