“Remember that your worries affect nothing. You think if your worries affect time this is an effect, but time is an illusion. It too does not matter. Remind yourself of this as well. This is part of letting go of the old world to make way for the new. Realize these things do not matter and will not be carried with you to the new world. So you might as well let them go now.” (ACOL, C:1.6)
Letting go of all our worries sounds like an impossible task. Our worries, large and small, do make up the tenor of our lives. We are shaped in daily life by whether or not we are actively worrying about something. This obsessional nature of worry ruins many a day.
How might we get over this thing called worry? We can realize that love is a greater emotion than worry. It is just that simple. We do what we can, when we can, to live life wisely. Then we let go—into the well stream of living in love. We realize that there is a Higher Power that will sustain us through all that we might ever face. Indeed, has sustained us already, when we have let Him. If we have resisted living in love, then even God does not go against our free will to fashion a life such as we would have.
Many of us think that worry is a lucky charm, that if we carry worries about with us, then the individual, myriad things to which it attaches are not likely to happen. Does this really make any sense? Isn’t this pure superstition?
Yes, many of our lucky charms are nothing but superstition. We don’t think that a benevolent Power will save us from ourselves, and so we degenerate into believing mindless magic.
We would be done with this manner of living. Today. Let the heart lead you, for the heart knows that we are all safe except in those instances that we go against divine will by asserting our own paltry desires into our life choices. We need guidance to know how to live well, and guidance will come to all if we are open to it.
When we are following guidance, our amulets and lucky charms drop away. We know within our heart that we have a Power helping us that will keep us safe. We don’t need to follow superstition any longer. We are home free. We are living in the new world that we are creating moment by moment.
