Think “Love” when Tempted by Fears & Judgment

“Joined minds cannot think separately and have no hidden thoughts. They are, in fact, not minds in the plural at all, but all-one-mind. What this Course is saying is that at some point that does not exist in time, God’s son made the choice for separation. Whether God’s son had one form or many at that time matters not, for one form or many, there was still one mind, the mind of God’s son joined in unity with that of his Father. Many of you have been taught this mystery of faith. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are One.” (ACOL, C:12.15)

This quotation is an explanation of the truth of the Trinity, traditional Christian doctrine indeed. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are One. Our mind was One mind when joined with the Father prior to separation. We were “all-one-mind.”

Now we are asking to return to that unity with God, our minds One with His. It is not hard, but certain responsibilities are necessary first. We must leave behind our fears and our judgments, and for those of still trapped in the separation, this injunction may sound impossible to do. How would we proceed? How would we leave fear and judgment behind, when it has been such a part of the egoic mind?

The single Answer is that we allow ourselves to be enthralled with Love, the Love of God, the Father. When tempted (for it IS a temptation) to lapse into a lower state of mind, we think “love,” and then this affirmation moves us away from sinking thoughts into something better.

When we allow our Self to merge once again with God, and when our conscious mind is enthralled with the Self, we will know a new way of being. We will be who we are, which is a risen Self that dips into egotism not at all. We will be Home, finally.

Consciously think “love” when tempted to judge, when tempted to let fear reign once again. Maybe this thought will not always save us, but it will save us often enough that we will know that we are on the right track. The track moving toward Christ-consciousness.

  1. Thanks Celia. I like the idea or suggestion of thinking ‘Love’ to stop a preoccupation with mindless thinking – magic. One of the most helpful and powerful methods offered in A Course in Miracles for achieving this same outcome is the Holy Instant. I do feel to say again that there is ‘no’ journey as your writings sometimes suggest, We are awakening from our Destination. The ‘obstacles’ to our awareness of who we are – Christ-Self – and where we are – Heaven / Oneness – are ‘revealed’, rather than, ‘found again’ through some committed effort of our own to ‘move’ from separation back to Union. The ‘work’ of awakening is really about abiding in silent communion through focusing attention – constantly. It has little to do with form or externals. Form and externals will simply reflect one’s placement of attention in God-Union. The face will shine and the eyes will sparkle to reflect this communion.
