Knowledge

“Everything you should know, you will know at the right time, and what is not necessary to know you will never know.”  COL bk.2, 20:IV

A very reassuring idea, especially for those of us who have long taken to ourselves, “Trust in the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.”  We have prized knowledge, especially book knowledge.  But there comes a time for this type of learning to end, as A Course of Love makes plain.  As time passes, we discover from observation of our world, and then this world in-forms us.

It is good to know that knowledge will come at the “right time.”  And also, as a warning, good to know that there are some things we never need to know.  God keeps some things for His providence alone.

Roethke had the right idea, about “locked rooms,” those things that we cannot know at the time we want to know.  His poetry speaks to my heart.  We don’t need to reach ahead to the future nearly so often as we do.  We wouldn’t be able to live our truth in a future that arrives before we are ready for it.

I find this quotation very close to my heart.  We are finite creations of God, and we know what we need to know, when we need to know, and we let the rest go.

sorry, the verse is in abbreviation form, can i have a the full name of the book which you took the verse from. I tried to assume it is Colossians 2 : 20 but i think it is a different verse.

The abbreviation of COL is for Choose Only Love, a recently channeled work to Sebastian Blaksley. There is a little more about this work in the “about” section at the top of this blog.

      Sorry for the confusion.

      Love, Celia

Oh that is brilliant. The closer says a mouthful.. “we know what we need to know, when we need to know!” One of my first mentors- who really pushed me into the Bible- would tell me constantly that my ministry would fail if I refuse to lead with my heart. This is a nice reminder of that Thank you.
