“Divine mind is the source of all true thought. Likewise, there is only one heart, the heart of God, which we have called the Sacred Heart. It is there that you feel all that is love. Remember that egoic thoughts are not true thoughts, but pseudo-thoughts.” Choose Only Love bk.3, 10:I
If we are having trouble letting go of the ego, we might remember what Jesus says in this quotation. Egoic thoughts are false, pseudo-thoughts. In other words, we are not really thinking when we let the ego rule how we make decisions.
Most of us want to live in reality. If we learn that we have been living a lie, we will recognize a mistake and wish to correct it. Jesus’ definition of the ego is not Freud’s. Jesus believes that the ego was never our friend, but a false formulation of “reality,” a false way of thinking that has hurt us.
We can recognize that when we think egotistically, we have highs and lows that never pan out to a constant state of contentment. When we give up the ego, life smooths out, and we enjoy happiness. Who among us would not want to experience happiness in our days?
If we are reluctant to just drop the ego, we might experiment with choosing not to do anything egotistical for a time. If we see that we feel better overall, there will never be a problem with motivation again.
Pray for God’s help in this. He knows that we have made ourselves insane with choosing to follow an ego that has derailed us. There is a better way.
And we can find it–today.
