Insanity

“This is an insane world, and do not underestimate the extent of its insanity.  There is no area of your perception that it has not touched, and your dream is sacred to you.  That is why God placed the Holy Spirit in you, where you placed the dream.”  (A Course in Miracles, FIP ed., T-14.I.2)

When we decided to separate from God, at that point He created the Holy Spirit as a way to cleanse our perception so that we might find out way back to Himself.  In time this happened a long, long time ago; in reality it never happened at all.

So we are living in insanity.  We were never meant not to communicate with our Creator, Who created us as companionship with Him.  So many of us live at least part of our lives, and sometimes our whole lives, as atheists or agnostics, trying, oh so hard to be independent and self-sufficient.  We were never meant to struggle in this madness.  And a little willingness to listen to the Holy Spirit will silence our doubts and set us on the road back to God.

Our perception is flawed; indeed, perception is even an insane concept.  Perception, if cleansed, can take us back to knowledge, which God knows.  God does not know perception, but His Bridge, the Holy Spirit, mediates between perception and knowledge.  By cleansing perception, we can learn enough to reach almost to knowledge—but only with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Let us reach today for that cleansed perception, so that all will be right in our little world.

We think a lot of our illusion, our dream, which is the way that we see this world.  There is no world!  This said by Jesus, in the Workbook of A Course in Miracles.  But do we believe that projection makes perception, that we are projecting an illusion, and seeing what would make life make sense to us in our madness?

No one is free of conflict in such a scenario.  We made the ego as a part of our belief about ourselves, made in insanity.  And now we don’t know how to deal with this erroneous perception.  We need to hand over our egos to Jesus himself, who has promised to hold them for us, so that we need not be concerned with them.  Take him at his word.  We don’t know how Jesus can be with anybody who calls to him, anytime at all, but let us decide that maybe he indeed knows what he is talking about.  Be with the sanity in your mind today, brought there by the Holy Spirit.
