Loving Consciousness

“Can you begin to realize that it is entirely possible to walk in this world without the slightest hint of fear?  This is possible—and necessary.  This can be achieved today, when you sincerely acknowledge that everything you feel in your heart and everything you think in your mind can and should be embraced by your loving consciousness.”  COL bk.2, 19:II

What a promise this is!  No hint of fear can be achieved today!  If we could only believe this strongly enough, I believe it would come to pass.

Again, love is the Answer.  Our heart and mind must be overshadowed by a loving consciousness.  And then we will see the evidence of what we read in today’s quotation.  We embrace all in our heart and mind, leaving nothing out.  But we don’t dwell on the past or the future, because we know that living in the present is the route to happiness.  And happiness we can have when we live in love and banish fear.

This quotation also tells us that to walk in this world without the slightest hint of fear is “necessary.”   We know that we cannot entertain Christ-consciousness as long as fear has a hold on us.  Fear and Christ-consciousness cancel each other out.

Focus on the love that we already think about and feel.  And then ask to have this love enlarged so that it covers our whole vision.   Ask for the warmth of God to enfold us.  This is a palpable experience, possible for all (though experienced, perhaps, in different ways for different people).  If we trust enough, trust God enough, then we will know that we are safe in a sometime difficult world.  We will thank God for the gift of life itself, and our desires for more, more, more will fall away.

The only “more” we will want will be love.

Awakening

“At first you wake up slowly.  Then you begin to walk-awake and you meet those who have awakened, and finally are ready to receive with serenity and peace those who are waking up.”  COL bk.2, 18:II

This is the pathway to Awakening, spelled out for us in Choose Only Love.  We do wake up slowly at least most of the time, when we have been reading channeled works from Jesus.  With him, the pathway is smooth.  With his guidance, the way is sure.

We do meet those who have awakened, though they may be reticent about telling us that they have awakened.  Genuinely awakened people do not brag; the ego is gone from them.

And then, ultimately, we help others who are awakening.  We are led to them.  We react with serenity and peace, sure of what to say and what to do, knowing that we have help from the celestial realm.

Awakening is the same as Christ-consciousness, the same as enlightenment.  Eastern religions have long known about this, but the West is just learning.  And from the best teacher, Jesus himself.

Let us listen and be assured that all will be well when we walk this gentle pathway.

Jesus: “Certainly Everything Will Be Fine”

“Certainly everything will be fine.  Do not doubt this.  God and you, your being and my love, are always the universal winners, not in the sense of triumph of the egoic thought system, but in truth.”  COL bk.2, 17:II

We do need this reassurance now!  It is attributed to Jesus, in the new series of books, Choose Only Love, and the words were channeled within just a year or two ago.  We need to hear, “everything will be fine.”  And we are not to doubt!

We are not talking about an egoic victory, but something much, much grander—the peace that the end of separation from God actually gives.  We are heading into Awakening, Christ-consciousness, enlightenment—all of us.  And when we have traversed the barriers of fear and judgment, we will have that which we desire, a peace that passeth understanding virtually all the time.

For reasons that we don’t understand, it is easier to reach Christ-consciousness now.  We have grown through our travails, and now we are ready.  Devote time to contemplation and meditation, prayer, and simply loving our brothers and sisters.  We will find our walk in life will go much easier when we have done these simple things.

We need to cooperate with God as He seeks to bring us home to Him.  He would have us turn from the insanity that is egotism.  When we do this, we will have that which we most long to have, and for many of us it is peace and joy.

May the peace and joy of God’s blessings reach us, wherever we are, today.

Accept the Essence of Love in Our Lives

“Now that you are ready to walk the Earth as gods, in union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus, go through the world carrying love.”  COL bk.2, 15:III

What can this ever mean, to “walk the Earth as gods”?  This statement from Choose Only Love is a new way of phrasing how we will walk in this new era, the time of Christ.  I think the reference to our being “gods” has nothing whatsoever to do with egoic notions, that being a “god” happens when we have walked the pathway back to our Maker, God Himself, and we are living as Christ-conscious beings.

Other words in this quotation are unusual:  the “Immaculate Heart of Mary” and the “Sacred Heart of Jesus.”  We have to realize that the scribe is a very faithful Roman Catholic, devout in his practice, and he reveres Mary and Jesus.  Sebastian seeks to inject a sense of holiness in all that he writes, and here we see this sense of holiness magnified.

The essential point of this quotation is the oft-repeated injunction to love.  I fear that many of us don’t get the full meaning of love because we have heard this injunction so often.  If it were a new and strange word, never before tried, we might accept more readily, acknowledging our lack of understanding previously.  (This is an idea from other channeled writing.)  But we can’t change the word to something novel.  We just must humbly realize that we have not comprehended the essence of love in our lives heretofore.  It is incumbent upon us now to change that, to accept the essence of love as the most vital factor in our lives.

Seek a reverent attitude in devotionals today.  The holiness of Sebastian’s writing joins with the union that we will know with Jesus and Mary, for we will then, one day, all be joined with the omnipresent Christ soul.  Christ is a plural word in the new era, and it always includes the potential in us to be Christ-conscious, Awakened people.

Fill Our Heart with Love

“The screams of the world, those echoes of the past that you still hear, are telling you in thousands of different ways:  Brother, do not deny me love.”  Choose Only Love:  Let Yourself Be Loved (COL bk.2, 14:II)

We do hear screams in the world right now, echoes of a past that was filled with anguish.  Perhaps we know that today is filled with anguish also.

But there is an Answer, and it is the age-old response to worry and fretting—just fill our heart with love, and spread that love out on the world that we see.

If we love enough, there will be absolutely no space for fear and judgment.  According to A Course of Love, fear and judgment are the two impediments to Christ-consciousness.

We need to move into the next dimension of Christ-consciousness.  This will happen when we are so filled with love that anxieties have taken a back seat.

Yes, as hackneyed as it sounds, Love really IS the overwhelming Answer.  The screams of the world recede into nothingness when we are able to sense God’s Love for us.

He is ready and willing.  Are we?

Commit to Awakening

“The Way of Transformation is much simpler than you think.  But again, it rests on your decision to use time to be wholly committed to awakening from the narrow constraints you have placed upon your vast field of consciousness.  For no other reason than that it might be rather entertaining to allow this tiny little ray to continue in space and time for a while, while being aware of the totality of your Self and actually operating from that totality.”  (“The Way of Transformation,” WOM, Chapter 13, Page 160)

This quotation suggests that we have something to do with the timing of our Awakening.  God makes the decision, as A Course in Miracles tells us.  But we must remove the blocks to the awareness of love, the blocks of fear and judgment, as A Course of Love tells us.  This quotation, from The Way of Mastery, seems to say that if we let our consciousness expand, removing the constraints we have placed on it, we will make progress toward Awakening.  We might stay on this earth, in space and time, but we would draw on the larger Self who is beyond our little persona/personality.  This larger Self is merged not only with God, but with other people, too.  Our brothers and sisters are in this with us.

These thoughts demand some concentration.  If we can walk peacefully to a transformation, an Awakening or Christ-consciousness or enlightenment, we will be walking toward the goal of The Way of Mastery.  This is the next step in our evolution.  We need to take this next step.

Our world needs a comprehensive reawakening.  Let us focus on staying calm (no fears) and giving everyone some slack (being non-judgmental).  If we can do that much, we will have made progress that we may not even comprehend until the moment that we sense God’s presence in lifting us up into Awakening.

We Need Each Other

“The buildings, the automobiles you drive, the dollars in the bank—none of that is real.  These are merely symbols of the quality of experience you have chosen to call to yourself, as a temporary learning experience.

“Beloved friends, use time well.  Ask yourself:

“Am I fully committed to transforming my awareness from one who has been sleeping, and perceiving myself as limited to the space-and-time dimension, or am I committed to truly hearing my brother’s call to take up my cross and follow him?”  (“The Way of Transformation,” WOM, Chapter 13, Page 158)

The dollars in the bank, even when diminishing, are a temporary learning experience.  We want to cry out that it is all so unfair, that we didn’t call this to ourselves.  Yet we are caught in it.  And we have to make the best of a bad hand dealt to us.

In this ordeal, let us turn to our brother—whom we can imagine as Jesus or we can imagine as the one standing next to us in the flesh.  We need each other now more than we did last week.  And this will grow, perhaps, over time.  We need to awaken, even in the midst of our ordeal.  We have been asleep.  Now is the time to welcome the end of fear and judgment, and the beginning of wisdom, the glimmerings of Awakening.

We can turn this ordeal into a mixed blessing.  We can see our way home to God in and through it.

Expressing Mastery

“Expressing mastery is the effect of The Way of Transformation in this world, in this time, in this little tiny moment.  Rest assured, to the degree that you turn your attention to expressing mastery, to the degree that you use time wisely to be the embodied Christ, when the body drops away and it veils from you no longer the magnificence of the Light you are, the light will not be blinding to you.  You will not contract in fear.  You will merely let this world go gently and as easily as a child has put away a toy that has been outgrown, because its usefulness is complete.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 12, Page 145)

The way to Awakening, as developed in Jesus’ recent channeled works, is gentle in the extreme.  Previously, many individuals who awakened without this guidance were hurled into reality unawares.  A great shock.  But A Course in Miracles, A Course of Love, and The Way of Mastery (the last also known as the Christ Mind Trilogy) have prepared us well to make a gentle transition into enlightenment.

Moreover, we know what is happening to us.  In previous years, the people who were hurled into reality frequently then went on an anguished search to try to find out what had happened to them.  There was evidence in the Eastern religions, Buddhism and Hinduism (among others), but very little could be found in Christian writing.  Sufism, the mystical arm of Islam, also knew some understanding.  But Christianity was nearly left out, and even today, there is very little that is discussed in mainstream Christian teaching.

If we want Awakening, Christ-consciousness, enlightenment, we need to erase the barriers of fear and judgment.  Our awareness of what love means needs to be strong in our heart.

Our light needs to shine in this world.  Ask to be shown the way today.

Depth of a Perfect Silence

“I share with you the depth of a perfect silence. I share with you wisdom supreme. I abide as you are: the thought of Love in form. To be in form does not mean to be a body. It means only that the Christ Mind, which is the reality of Love’s existence, truly abides within each of us equally. If this were not so, you could not recognize me. When you read a word, or a sentence, or a paragraph that resonates within you as being the truth, you could not know it was so, if that Truth did not already live within you as the reality of your very existence.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 11, Page 135)

We are not actually learning anything new: We are “remembering.” This is a tenet of The Way of Mastery, that we don’t actually learn new things, that we are recalling to mind what was learned a very long time ago, and then forgotten, much to our detriment.

Our Truth is written on our heart. Not our mind. When we say this, everyone knows what we mean. The “heart” has a very definite point of understanding in our psyche. When we soften to listen to our heart, we want a smooth pathway back to our God. Our feet don’t stumble on stones, we don’t trip and fall. We just walk smoothly along a flower-strewn pathway. And we discover much on this peaceful and often slow journey.

We get impatient to get on with it. We want Awakening, and we want it now.

But this is not God’s way. He acts only when certain that WE are ready for the great responsibility of Christ-consciousness. Sitting as Christ for five minutes a day can speed the process, but still God probably acts in a much more measured pace than we would like. The slowness prompts patience, something sorely lacking in many of us.

Jesus, our leader, is offering us the chance to commune with our God in silence. In silence is how God speaks to us. Understanding Him is a “feeling” issue, and feelings belong to the heart. That is why turning to our heart for decisions is so important. Our ratio of mistakes to good decisions becomes much improved toward good decisions.

When in doubt, just ask for the loving response to be writ upon our heart. This way we won’t go astray as we walk back to God, letting Love heal the separation.

End of Our Journey Is Certain

“But I can promise you, if you will take up such a path—simply, joyfully, gently, patiently—the end of your journey is certain. If you choose a path filled with magic and many complex strategies, the end is not so certain. The way is easy and without effort:

“I am already that which I seek.

“I need only allow it to guide me.

“While this body lasts, I will allow it to be a communication device that extends the treasure of perfect Love, perfect safety, and perfect peace to all who enter my house.

“And your house is your field of energy, the expanse of your presence.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 10, Page 131)

Jesus is here warning against those who would seek to “teach” enlightenment through magical means. His way is simple; in fact, it is here already. We are just too blind to see.

We have only imagined that we walked away from, separated, from God. Actually separation from God is impossible, for He dwells within, with us being a part of Him. But we can imagine ourselves anyplace that we want; this is free will in action. Imagining that we no longer know God has occupied us for eons.

Has being without God been good for us? Has this imagination borne good fruit?

Of course not. Walking away from Him Who is our Center could only bring pain, pain that often turned into an illusory suffering. We think that we could exercise our free will only by refusing to be a part of God any longer. We don’t know what we have effected, for the very words are meaningless. We have retreated into madness.
Now we need a cleansed and healed mind. Let Jesus guide the way to our healing. Having taken the pathway himself, he is in the best position to help, especially when we can’t help ourselves at all. If we could heal the separation without aid, we would have done so long ago.

Extend Love to our house, our field of energy, and watch the mind emerge from darkness into light, into happiness.

Love Has Worked Its Magic

“Here, beloved friends, is the way to the Truth that sets you free. You must absolutely become wholly committed to being awake for no other reason than that you have realized you have no other choice. You have already made them all and they have only led to pain.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 10, Page 128)

We know that we have had pain in our lives; nobody has escaped it. It is particularly our choices that have led to pain that gives us the most cause for regret. We think, “If only I had not done that, then things would have been different!” We think if we had done something else, our pain would never have arisen.

But pain is a part of the human condition. Until there comes a time that we surrender, totally, to God, and in that surrender choose Love with all its ramifications. When we choose Love, we have made the only legitimate choice open to us. And this one choice is all that is required to heal our minds all the way to their depths. Over time, in the awakening process, the bad reactions that need healing come to the surface, and we surrender them, forgiving ourselves and others, including God, who come to mind. In this process, we are open to true Love.

And then the great Awakening comes, in God’s timing, not ours. But our Self, being a part of God, has had something to do with that timing. If we carry out the exercises that Jesus gives us in The Way of Mastery, we will speed along our healing. Then we become enlightened, Christ-conscious, individuals.

Is there much change? Not to others. We appear as we always have, and indeed, with no ego to protect, we may appear even more “ordinary.” Our humility masks what a great transformation we have undergone.

Our pain is gone. Oh, there may be a few physical twinges, but the emotional pain (which has been the most damaging to us) has been healed. Our minds are right with God. We know it, if nobody else does, for there comes a particular moment in time that we realize that all has changed.

Love has worked its magic. We are home in God.

Teach ONLY Love

“The wisest of students are those that hear the word and put it into practice, diligently, for themselves—not for their mother, not for their father, not for their spouse, not for their brother, not for their sister, not for the sake of the planet, not for the sake of the universe, not for the sake of the new dawn that is coming, not for the sake of anything but themselves. For their Self is what God created. And that Self calls out to you to honor it, by separating your Self from the illusions that you have allowed to make a home in your mind, and becoming wholly committed to teaching only Love.

“There is no other way. Yes, you can learn to sit in meditation and allow the mind and body to float free, to relax. Yes, you can learn rituals that help to focus your attention so that you remember what you are committed to, and the distractions of the world do not seem to quite catch you or hook you as much. There are many strategies that you can enjoy and experience. But in the end, it is only this: a quiet choice within that no one recognizes, that no one sees, that no one hears.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 10, Page 127)

Yes, living and teaching Love is the only way to awaken.

It is a simple choice. Jesus makes plain here that methods of stilling the mind in silence may help, time spent in meditation may help, but the real elixir is to just to love. Turn to the ones in our circle and love them. Then embrace the world as a whole, even those outside our circle.

The practice of loving will transform us, will grant us awakening. There is no other sure way.

We make this choice for ourselves, and perhaps saying this makes our choice sound selfish. But there is a more altruistic reason. We can control only ourselves, and even this we do imperfectly. We aren’t supposed to attempt to control those in our circle, and especially not our nearest and dearest, our significant others, including spouse, children, parents. They will resist our control, and for good reason. We simply have to let everyone walk their own path.

Our quiet choice of awakening has to embody the whole Self, and that Self includes God Himself. Our Self, a part of God, is the decision-maker. Elsewhere it is said that God makes the decision of when we are to experience Awakening, but we hold some of those cards ourselves. We walk along the pathway, in surrender to Him, and then, lo and behold, we have the great blessing descend upon us—first in snatches, and then continually.

We might seem to change to nobody else, but inwardly there will be a certainty that we have experienced something that we have wanted very much. We will still seem like ordinary people, social security numbers and street addresses and ID cards, but inwardly we will be very different indeed.

Bid that difference come to us today. But wait on God’s timing, in patience.

To Be In the World but Not of It

“In just this way, unenlightenment can be put away as though it were a toy that you have outgrown—by merely looking at all of the effects of unenlightenment , and then asking the question, ‘Is this what I wish to have continue as my experience? Or am I willing to put the doll on the windowsill, and pick up a book instead?’ A book that speaks of Life, a book that is filled with wisdom, a book that teaches you how to step lightly in the world, to be in the world but not of it.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 10, Page 125)

Jesus speaks in The Way of Mastery as though enlightenment were a decision of ours. But when we realize that we have God in our depths, that all, everywhere, is “God-stuff,” then the assertion makes more sense.

We cannot just “decide” for enlightenment, though. We need to heal the depths of our unconscious by forgiving each part of our psyche that has judged another. Forgive and be healed. It is just that simple.

Jesus was the only major religious figure to stress forgiveness. He knows something that can make quite a difference in our lives.

Let him speak to us today.

Is There Something We Can Do to Hurry Enlightenment?

“If your answer is, ‘No, I hear talk about enlightenment and I get little glimpses, but I don’t really know what it is because I’m not feeling it completely in my lived experience,’ right away you will know that there must be something that you have valued other than enlightenment that you are insisting remains in place in your consciousness. What is it? Search it out, find it and decide whether you still want it.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 9, Page 110)

Here we are getting guidance that there is something more that we can do to hurry enlightenment. We probably got the impression from A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love that we had to remove the blocks of fear and judgment, or nothing would happen—and we wondered how in the world we could actually do this.

Do we value something in our world that is different from enlightenment or Christ-consciousness or Awakening (all of which mean the same thing)? This quotation from The Way of Mastery seems to say that we must get our values in place before God can act to lift us up. Elsewhere WOM says that the subconscious mind must be cleansed, that all parts of it which limit God must be brought to the surface for understanding and then dismissal.

WOM is very direct in what it says. And when Jayem was channeling, live, in a kind of trance in which he did not know what was coming through, it is hoped that he was being surrounded by Jesus himself.

This passage gives hope. Let’s ask today what, if anything, in our lives seems more important than our ultimate salvation, the ultimate healing of our relationship to God. Let’s then ask that our confused values be healed.

Then and only then will we be in league with the quotation for today. Our way may just open so that God knows that it is safe to act with us to bring us into enlightenment. After all, we know from ACIM, ACOL, and WOM that it is God in our inner depths Who makes the decision of when we are ready for enlightenment.

Christ-consciousness

“Christ consciousness cannot be said to truly exist—for you—until you create it within yourself.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 9, Page 110)

We do create Christ-consciousness within ourselves, for this is where God is. And He makes the decision of when our subconscious mind and heart have been cleansed sufficiently for this blessing to descend upon us. We do remove the blocks of fear and judgment, ourselves; this comes from A Course of Love.

Can we hurry the process along? Yes, we can. When we turn to God more and more in our everyday life, we are hurrying the process along. When we meditate, we open a channel for His grace to pour into us.

But we already know these things. It is up to us to cultivate the mind slant that will invite Christ-consciousness to descend. Then, in a very important sense, it is out of our hands. If the way seems long, we must know that this idea might be wrong. There is much we simply do not know. But one thing we do know is that in this time of Christ, it is easier to reach Christ-consciousness.

We reach it from living in our everyday world, but with our heart in the clouds.

Jesus: “I Come because I Love You”

“I come because I love you. I come because I am your friend. . . .I come to abide with you to bridge the gap that seems to yet separate you from me.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 9, Page 106)

Jesus is here affirming that he comes to us because of love in his heart for us. It is akin to the reassurance, given in A Course in Miracles, that he will come to us upon hearing a “single, unequivocal call.”

Jesus does not want too much dependence in our relationship to him, though. He wants us to access our power, which is given us by God, Who dwells deep within. When our strength is diminished, he will comfort and console. But always he seeks to strengthen us by his presence, not to make us think that we are weak.

There seems to be a gap between Jesus and ourselves because he seems to have gone so far ahead of us. But he says elsewhere that there is nothing that he has that we cannot attain, and even go further. Yet, still, while we are in this world, he is our “big brother,” always there to cheer us on, to lead us gently and with compassion.

In A Course of Love, Jesus ceases to be our teacher, and becomes just the companion that we have long wished to have. He is our partner in this enterprise of Awakening and moving into Christ-consciousness. This is the next step for us, and his careful channeling in several works has paved the way for us to have this next step in our evolution.

We are heading back to God, Whom we actually never left.

Eat Only Good Fruit to Heal the Separation from God

“No one ever told you, and your Creator never insisted, that you eat of the tree of good and evil. For all good fruit has been given you freely. And you are always free to choose which fruit you will eat thereof.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 8, Page 103)

Here The Way of Mastery, which many believe was channeled by Jesus, he says that Genesis in the Bible got it wrong. We didn’t have to eat “apples” of the tree of good and evil; that was a misunderstanding. In terms of the recently channeled works, we see that separation from God was never foreordained; we could have done it differently. But now we are to eat only good fruit, which means that we are to heal the separation, something that the Holy Spirit or the Christ-Self prepares us for.

How do we heal the (illusory) separation? We go within and commune with our God Who lives in our depths. We have never been externalized, something that we have long misunderstood. We remove the blocks to the awareness of love, as another channeled work, The Course of Love, says. These blocks are fear and judgment, something that is within our power, with help, to turn aside from.

Let’s turn aside from fear and judgment today. Of course, this is easier said than done, and it is impossible unless we turn to our depths. We simply turn, with our awareness, inward, over and over, asking and receiving help.

Eventually we heal the subconscious depths. As each negativity is brought to the surface, we heal because we have the knowledge of what is holding us back. We walk into the sunlight with God, Jesus holding our hand.

There is no better way to live. When the time is right, God Himself will reach down and us up into enlightenment, Awakening, Christ-consciousness—all words for the same ineffable transformation.

In the meantime, we will catch glimpses of Awakening, and these will happen when we are in a particularly receptive frame of mind/heart. Then the glimpses will elongate, and God Himself will act to take us unto His heart with transformation.

Healed in Mind, Body, Spirit

Healing requires the willingness to feel desire, to see it as good and to see it as holy. (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Chapter 4, Page 46)

We are in charge. We can listen to guidance, and thereby give up at least some of the control. But we remain in the driver’s seat. What we say goes, for we are creating our reality.

Of course, it is best if we open to guidance, the Holy Spirit, the Christ Self, the Higher Self, God. We simply are not aware enough, in our finite minds, of all that we need to do to create the best reality. We are limited that way.

We know too much to let the ego rule, and that is why we no longer seek guidance of this false persona. True, we can lapse into egoic thinking, and thereby lose our way, but do we really want to risk this? I think not. We want to be healed in mind, body, spirit. And our desire to be healed fuels the changes that we need to make in order to be healed.

Healing is, ultimately, Awakening, enlightenment, Christ-consciousness. Before we reach that milestone, we will see glimpses of what that mellow, heartwarming state of being really is. We will be led, ever so gently. It isn’t as though we will be hurled into reality, and this is something that A Course in Miracles makes plain. Our pathway will be gentle, though of course, because we are fallible, there will be some bumps along the way. Nobody, well, almost nobody, escapes the ego in one fait accompli. Escaping the ego is a gradual process.

Ask for healing today. Know that when we ask, the healing is already on the way. God has just been waiting for this opening.

Divinely Selfish (and What It Means)

“If you ever want to come home, you are going to have to become very, very divinely selfish. You are going to have to become so selfish that you will not tolerate judgment in yourself—of anyone or anything. Because you will begin to recognize that every such act catapults you to the other side of the universe from where you want to be.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Chapter 3, Page 33)

When we are “divinely” selfish, we know that all of us are in this together. We don’t give ourselves less attention than we shower on another. We know that it is in our best interests to give up judgment—for the sake of ourselves. Because we are all One, giving up judgment becomes in the best interests of everybody else as well.

Jesus shocks us with the word “selfish.” But when we know that all of us are of the same nature, the Oneness draws us to a new understanding, an understanding that all that is right for us is also right for other people, indeed for the whole world.

Judgment prevents enlightenment, Christ-consciousness or Awakening, from happening to us. The Way of Mastery was designed to catapult us into enlightenment. Jesus actually holds out hope that all the world can join us in this ineffable state. He has never before attempted to bring all of us to this state, en mass.

Be divinely selfish. Know that what works for one, works for all. And what is loving to one, is loving for all.

Let Love guide our way.

Our Experiences Are Stepping Stones Home

“The very thought that you would claim as your own from which you have created the world of your own personal experience is also literally the result of your prayer to awaken. And the Father is creating—assisting you to create—just those experiences as stepping stones that carry you from where you are to where God is.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Chapter 3, Page 31)

Yes, stepping stones show us the way. The way to where God is. And these stepping stones are smooth and stable so that we don’t dash a foot against a stone, causing a tumble.

When we create our personal experience, that personal experience shows us the way to awaken. Our prayer to know what to do is all that it takes. God does the rest. That is an unequal contribution, and perhaps we think that somehow, in some way, we need to do more.

This is a false thought. We need, as A Course in Miracles says, only a “little willingness.” God does the rest, ALL the rest. Our unequal contributions from the Holy Spirit, and from ourselves, have nonetheless accomplished what seemed impossible.

We are home, in God’s arms, at last.

Healing from Within

“You are literally creating everything you choose and nothing is forced upon you.

“Now we are going to take that thought just a little deeper for a moment. It literally means that if you have decided you want to awaken, you have already called to yourself every experience that can truly best serve your awakening. The friends, family and people you have relationships with are those who likewise can best gain from the experiences elicited through relationship with you. It means that right here and right now you are already demonstrating the power that you are seeking—the power to truly choose to awaken, and to command the whole of creation to serve you in that awakening.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Chapter 3, Page 30.)

We seem to have something to do with our Awakening. This is a step beyond what we were told in A Course in Miracles, when we were told the fact that God makes the decision, and we must simply wait. We were told, of course, that we can remove the blocks to the awareness of love, and this will make a huge difference.

The Way of Mastery stresses that each subconscious thought and feeling must be brought to the surface of the mind to be healed. We can aid in this process, and thus have a more direct influence upon when the Awakening for each of us occurs.

We are surrounded with everything that will prompt our Awakening. We have always been.

We are particularly surrounded by relationships that are mutually helpful. And we have always been.

The Way of Mastery is designed to lead us to Awakening. That is its stated purpose. We can contrast this to A Course in Miracles, which was designed to dislodge the ego; and A Course of Love, which was designed to establish a new identity. But all three recently channeled works do work together, for their message is the same—heal the illusory separation from God, and rejoin His fold.

Christ-consciousness Realized

“All that I will be sharing with you, not just in this lesson, but in this course, has as its final goal your complete Christed consciousness and the fulfillment of what your own soul desires.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Chapter 3, Page 27)

The purpose of the Way of Mastery (Christ Mind Trilogy)! Jesus is doing what he can to lead us to Awakening, and in the Way of Mastery he articulates this more clearly than in either A Course in Miracles or A Course of Love. His purposes there were slightly different: In ACIM, to dislodge the ego; in ACOL, to establish a new identity.

But in The Way of Mastery, he goes right to the heart of our trouble: the need to awaken, to move toward Christ-consciousness or enlightenment. He cannot awaken us directly, but he can direct our minds and hearts to remove the barriers to enlightenment that have prevented this blessing from descending upon us. God takes this action, as ACIM said. And we ourselves can do much to cooperate with Jesus in removing the barriers that we have placed in the way.

This is the fulfillment of what our soul has longed to have. The fulfillment that will turn meekness into a treasured way of being for all souls. This is a not a cast-down meekness, but a gentleness of spirit that will make all things, all things, right. It will be a meekness such as the man Jesus embodied when he was on earth.
This gentleness of spirit will give us the joy that we crave, the joy in Awakening that we have known is out there, waiting for us.

First Step in Awakening

“The first step in awakening is to allow into the mind this axiom of truth:
“Nothing that you experience is caused by anything outside of you. You experience only the effects of your own choice.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Chapter 1, Page 5)

We are in the driver’s seat, in that our projection is out-pictured as perception. This is all that we see in forming our world, reaching from deep within, often seeing what we want to see. Of course, this wanting is not on the level of the personality, but the soul, the inner Christ-Mind, Who is a learning being for a long time as this Self seeks to know God.

Much of the entire Way of Mastery is geared to one mission: to awaken as many people as possible, as soon as possible. So it makes sense that Jesus would explain what he is about right at the beginning of the first book, “The Way of the Heart.” If we follow Jesus’s instructions throughout The Way of Mastery (i.e., the Christ Mind Trilogy), we will be led to unwrap our subconscious mind, bring it up to the surface, and heal. This is what we are about. And everyone is blessed with a different subconscious, and so the way back to God differs for each of us.

Our own choice can be a choice for God in all things. This will immediately bless us with a harmony in our dealings with others that we have never known before. This harmony will be experienced in our minds and hearts as peace, the peace that passeth understanding.

Choose wisely. We must. We must try to get our world back on track.

Awake Beings in the Image of God

“Consciousness was the first split that you introduced into yourself. You became a perceiver rather than a creator in the true sense. Consciousness is correctly identified as the domain of the ego. Jung was right indeed in insisting that the ego is not the self, and that the self should be regarded as an achievement. He did not recognize (a term we now understand) that the achievement was God’s. In a sense, the ego was a self-made attempt to perceive yourself as you wished, rather than as you are. This is an example of the created/Creator confusion we spoke of before. You can only know yourself as you are, because that is all you can be sure of. Everything else is open to question.” (ACIM, COA ed., T-3.VI.4:1-9)

When we made the ego, we also made an authority problem, confusing created with Creator, trying to make of ourselves someone who was different from what God wanted. We thought we had succeeded, and we did, in a way, for eons. But as time has passed, and we have suffered greatly at our own hands, we have come to know that chasing illusions is a false pathway. Bottom line, we can never actually be anyone other than who God created. We have to walk that solid line back to Him. We know better now, know that what we have made is decayed and ill-advised. Suffering, our lot in life when we are consumed by the ego, is not worth the price that we pay. Who really wants suffering, even at the cost of rebellion from our Creator?

The only way that we can thrive is to remain the created that we are, Sons and Daughters of the Divine, a blessing to all whom we love. We can know this accurate picture of ourselves only when we do love, for love is the great eye-opener. We drop the insane idea that we cannot will for ourselves what God wills, ridiculously sure that we must want something else. In actuality, in true reality, our will and God’s will are identical, for He lives through us. And He is not insane.

Let God’s direction infuse our life with real purpose. Loose the ego from clutched hands. We can never know peace until we understand that we are the created, that we did not create ourselves. We did, it is true, “make” ourselves over in an image that is not sustainable. But that is all. And when we let the ego go, we will realize that now we know in a way that previously was closed to us. We know who we were intended to be, Christ-conscious, awake beings in the image of God.

Awakened Living

“Discovering your own relationship with me is discovering the Christ in you. When you have discovered your own relationship with me is when you have discovered that you are who I Am because you realize—or make real—your oneness with Christ. When you have discovered your own relationship with me is when an intermediary is no longer needed—because you have realized and made real your oneness with Christ.” (ACOL, D:Day39.10)

This is a mystical relationship we enjoy with Jesus, one that we can make real in our lives and can take literally. He has promised us in A Course in Miracles to come to us at the point of a “single, unequivocal call.” While we don’t understand how this is possible, we can step out in faith and believe that something is happening when our heart is warmed by a presence that seems not of this world. It may be Jesus.

We are giving up the Holy Spirit as intermediary, because we are moving into our Christ-Self, where no intermediary is needed (or even wanted). When we live in Christ-consciousness (enlightenment, Awakening), we will know the truth of what Jesus is telling us. We will know that God is here for us, always present, always living through us to provide a rich and full life, and what more could we ask for?

Be alert for the signs of increasing evidence that God is looking out for us. Of course, He has always been doing this, but it meant naught to us when we were unaware.

We are no longer unaware. And the awareness of love that we enjoy now could not have happened without our attention to our relationship to God.

This closer walk with God is what Jesus has been leading us toward. And our gratitude for the blessings in our lives that Jesus has helped to bring about will make all the difference.

Dear God,

Thank You for always being here with me. I very much appreciate it. I know that gratitude makes a difference in our universe, and gratitude is what I feel in my heart today.

Help me to actualize my wishes, the good ones only. Help me to thank Jesus properly for leading the way.

Amen.

Crown Us with Enlightenment

“If you do not realize that you have learned all that you need to learn, you will retain the consciousness of the separated self rather than sustaining Christ-consciousness.” (ACOL, D:2.8)

Jesus gives us a warning in the quotation for today. If we still think that we need to seek, continually looking for “something” in ever-widening circles, we won’t realize that we have actually found. Found Christ-consciousness. It is the separated self, even when it has gotten beyond the ego, that does us in. It is the separated self who knows not what it does.

So know that we have found, in these final pages of A Course of Love. We don’t need to keep turning to wisdom outside ourselves. We turn inward, a point that this blog made yesterday. We turn to the Christ-Self for the guidance that we have previously sought in books. The learned wisdom of the past.

How does this work? The Way of Mastery indicates that we need to unveil all damaged parts of the subconscious mind, bring these parts up for perusal, and then in the process of bringing these hidden parts to the light of day, we are healed. Everyone’s subconscious is different, and so it means that learned wisdom of others won’t do it for us. We need our own wisdom, the wisdom of the Self, a Self that I believe comes from the Unconscious, a deeper part than just the subconscious. The Unconscious is God Himself, and our Self is the part of Him who we can come to know. It is not hard to do, but very natural.

We need to spend time in solitude, contemplating and musing over our lives. This will invite the subconscious to the surface, and, after this, it is an easy step to Christ-consciousness, a step that Jesus says in channeled writings to be a step taken by God Himself. All three channeled writings that I am consulting—A Course in Miracles, A Course of Love, and The Way of Mastery—all say the same thing: It is God Who makes this decision about our readiness for enlightenment, Christ-consciousness, Awakening.

We can ask for a speedup, and this is in God’s will. An acceleration. And if we are diligent to follow the promptings from deep within, we will have that acceleration. But we must give up fear and judgment, planning and attack. We have to go through a purification process, though we have truly always been innocent of wrongdoing. We didn’t think we were innocent, though, and so guilty feelings need to surface from within. Then this guilt can be healed, and with the healing of guilt comes the great blessing of Christ-consciousness.

Be ready today to accept all glimpses of Christ-consciousness that come in calm and peace. Asking for ultimate salvation is definitely in God’s will, and He will act to crown us with enlightenment at the earliest indication that we are indeed ready.

Prayer

Thank You for the calm that overtakes me today. I would extend this glimpse of enlightenment into something more sustainable. I know that I ask in Your will. Help me to eliminate judgment and fear from my emotions and my acts. Help me to be grateful, to You, for the many blessings that are mine.

And may I never entertain thoughts that are egoic. I would be finished with egoism in all its forms. It never brought me anything good, and I would seek only the good today.

Amen.

When We Choose Love, We Choose What Will Save Us

“The same is true of you! You cannot express yourself independently of the whole! It is as impossible as it would be for the finger to do so. And yet you think that this is possible and that this is the meaning of free will. Free will does not make the impossible possible. It makes the possible probable. It is thus probable that you will use your free will in order to be who you are. But it is not guaranteed! It is your choice and your choice alone that is the only guarantee. This is the meaning of free will.” (ACOL, T4:5.9)

“Being who you are” is being who God created us to be, and that is a free individual, joined with Him, and not knowing egoic separation at all. For eons we have not been the people whom God created; we have been lost in illusion, an illusion that is simply another word for madness or insanity. We have been out of our minds. The ego had us chained to beliefs that caused us great fear, and with the fear came pain and suffering. The world can’t work without Love, and we were trying in vain to make it work with d judgment, that were constantly being undone. God knew in His creation that nothing could cause the universes to survive well except Love. His very Being was comprised of Love, and when that Being individuated Itself, Love was present in every part. Love had been extended to God’s creations.

We can’t get away from the need for Love. This is also like saying that we can’t get away from the need for God. If we find belief in God untenable, then we can just as easily believe in Love, and He will understand. Our minds have long wanted proof of God’s existence, and this proof, a knowing, can only come from the depths of our being, mostly likely through our intuition. There will come a time, in our movement toward Christ-consciousness, that we will just know that God is real, that Love is real, and that this Love is the backbone of the Whole. This Whole is everything seen and unseen, for energy is present in different frequencies, and some frequencies are too high for us to see with physical eyes. These frequencies, however, are discernible by our depths of mind and heart. And it is by turning within, in communion with that great depth within, that we will ultimately come to know rather than simply perceive.

Our free will still operates within certain parameters. We cannot, any of us, make the impossible, possible. God holds the trump card. But we can agree to the probable, and this probable includes using our free will to erase the separation from God that has caused us such miserable trouble. The separation was never real, for we have always been a part of God. But, lost in insanity, we made a world with effects that very nearly have destroyed us. Like Helen and Bill (co-scribes of A Course in Miracles), we come finally to the place where we know that there must be another way. And this “another” way is actually a better way.

Would not we want to walk through this perilous world without fear? This fearlessness is what we are walking toward when we turn inward and let our Christ-Self direct our movements and our voices. Would we like to give up holding grudges? This is what we will do in realizing that all of us have acted innocently, in insanity, with diminished responsibility because of this insanity. We will forgive, and in this forgiveness, we will cease attack, we will cease anger, and we will cease to judge. Of course, here we have the two impediments to Christ-consciousness, fear and judgment. And all of it is subsumed by fear, the opposite to Love.

Let’s let our inner Self direct our doings today. Let’s let Love overwhelm us. It is possible to feel so loved by God that we are made weak by the feeling. That is what we need to head toward. That very weakness, our vulnerability, will eventually settle into an invulnerability to things of this world. We can experience pain, but we will never, in this state of mind and heart, experience suffering again. We will be too close to God to let emotional overwrought hoodwink us into doubting the goodness of the universe(s).

Nothing bad ever happened, in reality. We just lost our way a little while, but time is an illusion, and now we are making our way back in remembrance of what was lost. Let our feelings of love well up within us. Make no decision against love today. Make no decision that would allow us to think God a figment of our imagination. In our depths, we know that His Love sustains us, wherever we are.

Prayer

Be with me today. If bad things seem to happen, give me the equanimity to withstand anything this world can throw my way. Thank You for the greater calm that You have granted me in recent days. Communing with You allows Your love to become real to me.

May You guide my speech today to be comforting and consoling to anyone I see. May I rest in the peace that only You can give.

Amen.

Enticing Way to Christ-consciousness

“This curriculum is mandatory and so some have rebelled and will rebel against it. Those who do not choose to learn from the curriculum, will, like school children, learn through what is not of the curriculum because they have chosen another means of learning. Means is what is being spoken of here. But all means are for one end. All will learn the same content, for all are chosen; and all learning, no matter what the means, will eventually lead them to the truth of who they are.” (ACOL, T4:1.10)

“This curriculum” is the curriculum of A Course of Love, a curriculum that seeks to bring us to Christ-consciousness as fast as our willingness will allow. Here we learn that not everybody will learn from ACOL. Other faiths exist in this world, and though Jesus is our chosen leader, the one whom we accept, not everybody follows him. Later on Jesus will make a pitch for us to “accept” him, seeing this as necessary, but in my view that is because we are choosing to follow his way as outlined in A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love, not to mention the New Testament and even the Way of Mastery.

All are still chosen; this much we know. But there are advantages to learning from Jesus, especially for those us who grew up in the Christian faith. He is familiar to us; we trust him (or we have trusted at times). His is an enticing way, especially when he insists that his way is easy, not designed for struggle and sacrifice.

All learning of whatever faith will eventually lead to enlightenment for its adherents. But the way can be long, and a direct route is given here in A Course of Love. Would it not make sense that we ought to practice what we learn here, especially when the route is fast?

Prayer
I would accept what life gives me, but I want help to accept it as well. And help is here, in the person of Jesus and in the manner of A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love. The way is indeed enticing. It is a way that I choose to embrace fully.
Help me to go with the flow, to avoid resistance—resistance which only makes more difficult the way laid out before me. I ask for your help today to be easy and laidback in Your arms. I ask for You to embrace me, even as Jesus embraces us in ACOL.
Amen.

Genuineness in Our Relationships Leads to Christ-consciousness

“Giving and receiving are one in truth.

“By saying that giving and receiving are one in truth it is being said that you are lacking only in what you do not give. The belief in lack is a temp¬tation of the human experience. This will relate to all situations in which you feel you have something to gain from some “other.” Again, this will be related to old patterns of dissatisfaction with the self.” (ACOL, T3:16.9 – 16.10)

Before reading A Course of Love, we probably never gave any thought that dissatisfaction with the self would be involved with the idea of lack and trying to gain something from another. But if we aren’t dissatisfied with ourselves, we know that we are complete as we are, that we have no need to gain from another unless we are also giving to that other brother or sister as well. And giving and receiving are one. In physical bodies, we must see that we reach out, and then something is reciprocated—and the reverse, someone gives us something, and we respond.

Since we are all One, this dynamic makes sense only when we think of our relationships with others. This is “unity and relationship” in action. Our Self, One with all, nevertheless gives and receives in our physical world, because we are discrete entities occupying separate bodies.

Let us not be dissatisfied with ourselves any longer. We do all have flaws, but we can change these things just by asking the Almighty to clean us up. We do not have to reach to an “ideal” self to know that we are alright just as we are, that we need only to be who we are in interactions with others.

This will allow a genuineness in our relationships that is like nothing else. Others will want to flock around us, not for what we can give them, but purely to be in our company.

Unless the ego rises up again, we have nothing to fear from recognizing this dynamic. And we have some say in whether or not we fall into egotistical thinking once again.

Prayer

So often I wonder how I might be a better person. But this is not the right tack, according to A Course of Love. I would be reaching for an “ideal” self, and this would be an idol. So help me to know that flaws can fall away, actually, just by wishing them away. That simple, and that profound.

Be with me on this day, a day filled with possibility and blessings. May I know that the urges that I feel about what to do and say need to be coming from You, or I will guide my actions wrongly. Get through to me, please.

Thank You.

Amen.

Transformation

“The ego’s thought system has been replaced by the thought system of unity and you are left, perhaps, feeling unsure of the part you are now to play. There is not one of you who has not begun to experience the transfor¬mation that is, in truth, occurring, although you may not as yet have seen the changes you are experiencing as the transformation to which you have been called. These changes, perhaps, seem like little things—a change in attitude here, a change in behavior there. But I assure you that these changes are mighty and are but the result of the change in cause that has occurred through your learning of this Course.” (ACOL, T3:1.7)

Here we are reassured that we are having a transformation, a transformation from the ego-self to the Christ-Self. And when this transformation is complete, nothing will ever be the same again. The culmination will be Christ-consciousness.

Now, sometimes this transformation happens suddenly, in an instant, and our brothers and sisters are left wondering what has happened to them. We may embark on a great quest to understand how and why we are different, for we know beyond the shadow of a doubt that we are very different indeed. And our significant others see this difference, and some ask questions. Suddenness has made the transformation seem very significant indeed.

Others of us, perhaps the majority, find transformation occurring gradually, sometimes very gradually. We recognize, as this quotation points out, a change here or there in attitude or behavior. We may not fully comprehend the great strides that are unfolding. This is Christ-consciousness occurring in glimpses, a moment of peace and tranquility that steals up on us almost unawares.

Be conscious of these small changes, for they are mighty indeed. Jesus assures us of this. And we will soon have a new persona, a personal self mirroring the inner Christ-Self, to present to others. We will almost not recognize ourselves. But we will be very inwardly glad that the change, the transformation, is occurring.

We will be new people, living in a new world that we are helping to create.

Prayer

I am grateful that I know a few people who have walked the whole pathway to Christ-consciousness. I am having a very gradual Awakening, with a change noted here or there, nothing dramatic and certainly not upsetting. I used to be afraid of Awakening, believing that I would be hurled into reality, though Jesus denies this in A Course in Miracles. My glimpses come when I am especially peaceful, and this seems to me to a harbinger of things to come.

Thank You, dear God, for orchestrating this transformation for all of us so well. It is the next step for all of us. May we be ready, and may we be ready soon. Then we await Your action of reaching down and lifting us up, to Christ-consciousness.

Amen.

A Trigger for Enlightenment

“This Course is but a trigger. These words the prelude to the explosion. It is as if you have been waiting for someone to whisper: Now! The whisper has come. The time is now.

“Can you let the worries of today leave your mind? Can you let the disap¬pointments of yesterday go and be no more? Can you let the planning for the future cease? Can you be still and know your Self?” (ACOL, C:26.15 – 26.16)

Here Jesus gets close to us and whispers, “Now!” to our longings to be free of impediments that keep us from ultimate salvation. A Course of Love is a trigger to lead us past the fear of God to the love of God, past the fear of our brothers and sisters to the love of our brothers and sisters, and the same dynamic for ourselves as well: We stop fearing what we might do if left to our own devices and instead we trust the leader, Jesus, who is leading us ahead to a new life lived in trust and harmony.

If we will only be still and listen to the Self deep within each of us, then we will know the secret of dropping worries, forgetting disappointments of the past, avoiding senseless planning in an effort to control the future. Our Self knows about these avoidable mistakes, and our Self can take us past them to a new tomorrow. If only we will listen and stop trying to insert patterns of the ego that still try to intrude on our peace of mind.

We have now reached the point in A Course of Love when the teachings come together with a certainty that allows us to know that we are home free—if we allow ourselves to experience that Home. We are truly our own worst enemies. We think we make some progress one day, only to retreat the next into feverish dreams. Today’s quotation is the call to stop hindering our progress. It is time to claim our salvation, for Jesus has said that the choice is ours.

We have to make a decision that we are ripe for enlightenment. But, importantly, we learn from both A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love that God makes that final decision of timing. But God is not separate from us; we are a part of Him. We are not His handiwork, separate and apart from creation, but an intimate part of differentiation of the godhead into the wonders of true reality. We are both union with God—the One—and relationship with Him and the All. Only in this relationship, this differentiation, could God experience Himself, for the All cannot know Itself if the unity is the only thing that there is. Thankfully, unity broke apart to have “separate” pieces with which God had relationships. Each of us is one of those relationships, as is every living thing.

Stop trying to halt true reality; take our places on the great pathway for all humankind back to God, whom we never actually did leave nor could leave. Trust that the way will be revealed to us. And then we can, at last, rest in the wonders of a God Who never abandoned us, even when we tried to abandon Him.

Dear Father/Mother,

We think with You a bit today about the wonders of the One and the many, the single, all-encompassing Everything; and the differentiation into parts, with each of us (and everything else distinct) being a part. This is the unity and relationship that A Course of Love emphasizes. This is what we need to hear, if only we can understand that the All, the One, undifferentiated, could not even know Itself.

But relationship solves that dilemma, for You and for us. Be with me as I thank You for this Solution. The day is bright with optimism; the way doesn’t seem so long, when these insights come and when they revisit.

Be with us as we seek to understand what we can with our finite minds. Our hearts know the truth. And I thank You for the revelation of ACOL that tells me this.

Amen.

Invite Awakening Today

“From here your life becomes imaginal, a dream that requires you not to leave your home, your place of safety and of rest. You are cradled gently while your spirit soars, dreaming happy dreams at last. With love surrounding you in arms that hold you close, you feel the heartbeat of the world just beneath your resting head. It thunders in your ears and moves through you until there is no distinction. We are the heartbeat of the world.

“This is creation. This is God. This is our home.” (ACOL, C:20.10 – 20.11)

In this passage Jesus is still harkening to the embrace, the mutual embrace of him and us. He comforts us in a way that perhaps we have never been comforted before. He does this by empathizing with us. He understands that we have suffered in this world, and he wants us to know that through imaginal living—life is that imagined—we can know a different sort of reality. We can leave suffering behind in our minds and hearts, and this will give us much new contentment. The way is smooth, finally. We CAN know contentment, even happiness, when we realize that our leader, Jesus, is right here with us, full of empathy for us.

The method given in the passage for today and yesterday is not complicated, but in some sense it takes a child’s faith—at least an adult who can relive the days of childhood, when everything was imaginal. I would call this a magical time, but Jesus himself in A Course in Miracles uses a different definition for “magic,” and we don’t need to confuse ourselves. (He likens magic to an irrational way of thinking.) We just need to realize, for sure, for all time, that we are not alone. We have never been alone, but we have played at this aloneness in our ego’s frame of reference. It is time to move beyond this erroneous way of thinking.

The way back Home is not far. It is here already, when we are mellow, when we are contented, when we have let go of stress, anger, hostility, and other negative attitudes. Indeed, attitude is what Jesus is changing when he stresses that we link mind and heart into wholeheartedness, all in a bid to move us closer to Awakening. Awakening is what A Course of Love is all about. Jesus knows that we will never be really healed until we have crossed that threshold into Christ-consciousness.

Invite Awakening today, at least a glimpse of Awakening. Pray for calm; meditate if need be. The way back is not hard; it is the easiest thing in the world when we have made up our minds that it is the ONLY thing that we truly want. All else will fall into place by this decision.

Invite a soothing spirit to enfold us. This will do more than anything else to make certain that we are blessed with a glimpse of Awakening today.

Prayer

Dear Father/Mother,

I do feel Your peace today. Thank You. You seem to whisper in my ear what my next step needs to be if I am to know joy and kindness in my interactions with others. May I be there for the people in my life. My I say the right thing, move in the right way, to lift their sights to something higher.

We all need You, You Who are in our Self, the Self we share with all. I sense the truth of this concept even though my finite mind cannot comprehend how this can be. Give me the strength to stay true to Your leanings, the intuitive leanings that you grant to me today.

Thank You.

Amen.

Mellowness Prepares for Christ-Consciousness

“This going back is, in reality, more in the way of reflection than review, although if you were to think of this as a re-viewing of your self, you would be quite accurate. It is like unto the final judgment as it has been described, a sorting of the real from the unreal, of truth from illusion. Despite the similarity between what this will call forth and the description of the final judgment, judgment is not the means or end of this reckoning.” (ACOL, C:19.22)

This quotation is important. It explains how we ready ourselves for Awakening. We need to go into our deeper mind, to let the memories surface, and as those memories are brought to the surface (however briefly), we are healed. This is akin to a final judgment, though it is not actually judgment, but something more benign. We are simply bringing up old reactions, egoic reactions, to be able to heal. And in the healing, we have moved into readiness for Christ-consciousness.

We can’t have access to the subconscious mind except when we are calm and serene. All of us know examples of times that we couldn’t think of a person’s name when we were trying to introduce that person to another. This common problem is emblematic of the fact that stress interferes with memories coming up to the surface.

It is the same as we seek to heal. We block awareness of past happenings when we are tense. This tension, this stress, would block our healing; that is the point. That is why we need to relax, relax the body, relax the mind. I have previously extolled “mellowness” as the right type of condition to welcome. It might even be said that
mellowness harbors a glimpse of enlightenment.

And so it will be with all of us. We will invite relaxation, mellowness, and the hidden memories from the subconscious will surface—to be healed. We need this final reckoning. It is the way that we prepare, virtually the only thing that we need to do to “get ready” for God to take the final action, reaching down to us to lift us up for Awakening.

Invite mellowness today. Meditation, quiet time, will help. Just listen to the words that surface in the mind, for these are clues of what needs to be forgiven. And in the forgiving we are saved, saved for enlightenment.

Prayer

Dear Father/Mother,

Thank You for the mellowness that I feel this morning. May I continue to feel this mellowness all day long. And may I open my mind to the memories that, brought up to the surface, will be healed.

May this day go well. I think that it will. But I can so easily get tangled up, even after a good beginning of the day. Help me to stay straightened out today. Help my mellowness to last.

Thank You.

Amen.

Enlightenment Takes Us Home

“A door has been reached, a threshold crossed. What your mind still would deny your heart cannot. A tiny glimmering of memory has returned to you and will not leave you to the chaos you seem to prefer. It will keep calling you to acknowledge it and let it grow. It will tug at your heart in the most gentle of ways. Its whisper will be heard within your thoughts. Its melody will play within your mind. “Come back, come back,” it will say to you. “Come home, come home,” it will sing. You will know there is a place within yourself where you are missed and longed for and safe and loved. A little peace has been made room for in the house of your insanity.” (ACOL, C:10.32)

We have come far enough along in our reading of A Course of Love to know whereof Jesus speaks in this passage. We want to go home, we want to feel safe and beloved in this world of illusion. And we can have all of this.

Let the words of this passage envelop us in a peace that heretofore we have not enjoyed. We are listening to our heart. And our heart knows how to guide us.

Of course, we may still get stubborn, refusing at times to follow the intuition that would tell us what to do. We are simply, at such times, not compliant enough. And some of this comes from our own desire to have our own way in this world. We often have not listened when others have given us their best advice; we wanted to do it “our way.” And we have been very willful in the execution of our way.

This has to stop if we are to move toward enlightenment, Christ-consciousness, Awakening. We simply must school ourselves to stop when we get a nudge to do so. We simply must do this. And I am speaking to myself as well as to you.

Be assured that peace is our inheritance. Home is where we are headed, even if we choose to return again and again to this earth. We can (we are told later on) decide to live the elevated Self of form as our future. We probably don’t know yet if we truly want this. But there are millions of our brothers and sisters who will need us to make the decision to stay on earth, not in an immortal sense, but in successive bodies. And then we will help those brothers and sisters to find their way home again.

A Course in Miracles, A Course of Love, The Way of Mastery—all have just be published. And their intent is to transform us. Never has there been a better time on earth for transformation to happen. And transformation comes in several names: enlightenment, Christ-consciousness, Awakening. The way in which this change is described may help different people in varying ways. But the intent of Jesus remains the same: to take us home, where we belong. And this doesn’t mean after death, but right here on earth.

Would You Rather Be Right or Happy?

“Your mind might still prefer to be right rather than happy, so it is important that you let your heart lead in making this new choice. When you find yourself in a situation you do not like, again offer your willingness to find some happiness within it. These instructions to your heart will begin to make a difference to your state of mind.” (ACOL, C:10.18)

Jesus found a good idea when he decided that the way to transform us was to talk about our relating to our heart. All of us know immediately what he means; it doesn’t take a tedious telling. And we know that when we listen to our heart, we make better decisions. Things come out right in the long run, which is something we definitely can’t say when we listen to the ruminations of our mind.

Being right rather than happy is a quest of the ego, one that keeps the ego going strong, in business, keeping us trapped the way we have been for eons. The next time that we are on the verge of altercation with a friend or loved one, we ought to stop ourselves by realizing, “I am listening to my egoic mind.” That may be all that it takes to stop us from pursuing the wrong path. Our heart will love, always, if given half a chance. And just a little willingness is what “half a chance” is all about. Jesus says repeatedly that a “little willingness” is what we need; this is a theme of A Course in Miracles as well as A Course of Love.

We can find happiness in our everyday lives. We don’t need to get nearly as discouraged about this as we usually do. And I am not talking about flights of happiness, ephemeral happiness, the kind of drama that the ego uses to entrap us. The happiness that we need to woo is a stable happiness, a happiness that is full of peace. And with this new happiness, we will find that listening to the heart becomes a habit.

Be with our loved ones today in peace. A transformation is ahead. Many of us feel it. And the future does indeed look bright. Our heart is taking us home to God. Our heart is leading to enlightenment, to Christ-consciousness. Virtually all of us have had glimpses of enlightenment now. And with the mind and heart joined in wholeheartedness, we will walk into a maintained, and then a sustained, Christ-consciousness in our near future.

Jesus has shown us the way in his channeled writing. Let us do our part to listen carefully to what he has said, and then everything will be different—and far, far better.

Retaining Hope of Healing

“Learn this lesson well, for herein lies the cure to all disease and the hope of all healing. While the body seems to tell you what you feel and bid you act in accordance with its feelings, how can this be so? The body by itself is neutral. But as long as you attribute the body with bringing you pleasure, the body will bring you pain as well. You cannot choose one without the other, because the choice is the same. The body is a tool made for your use in maintaining the illusion of your separation.” (ACOL, C:10.1)

In reality, the body is a communication device. In illusion, it is the home of our (illusory) separation from God. The body is neutral, in that it is not supposed to feel well or ill, just to exist as communication in our world of other bodies. A Course in Miracles says that we will know that we have succeeded when the body doesn’t feel well or ill, that is simply IS. A Course of Love, in this passage, says the same thing. We can have healing of our aches and pains whenever we want, once we heal the separation by opening up to the Christ within. Our real Self.

We don’t really believe these assertions of A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love, because the illusory body seems very real to us. We prick our finger, and we bleed (and we hurt). Does this mean anything? The illusion is very vivid to us; that is all. We are living in the illusion, and so feeling well or ill just exists in that illusion. But feeling well or ill, in the body, doesn’t exist in true reality. And so the aches and pains that we experience mean nothing in the end. They are nothingness itself.

If we want healing from our suffering, we must welcome the Self from deep within us. We must walk into true reality as our real Selves, our Christ Selves. We must not ask for complete understanding of this miracle, for we cannot comprehend all that will await us when we know Christ-consciousness. We probably can’t believe that healing will always occur in every situation, even then. But there will be healing, even if there are lingering symptoms. Sometimes it is an emotional healing, sometimes a physical. But healing is certain. The body remains a communication device only.

Will the body be only a communication device when we occupy the elevated Self of form? That truly remains to be seen, because this would require that we predict the future, and not even Jesus in A Course of Love will do that. We will be in a new era when there are many of us who inhabiting elevated forms. And we will write a new and different future.

For now, while in separation, we feel the hurts. For the future, healed of separation, we will recognize that the body is neutral, and we won’t ask that it save us from a stubbed toe or a hurting knee. We will understand that these things just do not matter. Our body remains a communication device only, until that great day when we have walked into the elevated Self of form. Then all bets are off as to what will happen.

Making a New Decision for Enlightenment

“Everything is held together by the thought system that gave birth to it. There are but two thought systems: the thought system of God, and the thought system of the ego or the separated self. The thought system of the separated self sees everything in separation. The thought system of God sees everything in unity. God’s thought system is one of continuous creation, rebirth and renewal. The ego’s thought system is one of continuous destruc¬tion and disassembly, of decay and death. And yet how like they are one to the other!” (ACOL, C:8.25)

The last sentence in this passage seems to be a puzzler, until we realize that the ego has attempted to copy and then transform what our personal, or little, self tried to remember from true reality. The ego’s world mimics the real world, but it changes things so drastically that the whole world view of the ego is detrimental, in the extreme, to our well-being.

We need simply to realize that the ego has made a world in opposition to what is true. And this world, born of an illusory separation from God, hurts us. We were never meant to be out of communication with our Creator. We did not create ourselves (as much sometimes as we try to think that we did), and the only sane response to the truth is to fall in line with what creation holds for us. What we meant to be and to do. Using our free will to choose separation was at least an illogical act, one that has caused us to suffer greatly over eons. Now we stand at the point of making a new decision, a decision for Christ-consciousness, a change that will purify our sight and make a new life for us. And when this change is effected, we will be living in line with God’s thought system.

Many things will change with Christ-consciousness, but we do not have to feel that life will remain bad until that happening comes about. The Holy Spirit brings happy dreams, when we let His guidance direct our ways. And these happy dreams are harbingers of the best that awaits us, when we have walked the whole pathway back to God. The happy dreams are still illusion, of course, but a joyous way to spend the time between now and Christ-consciousness. We will no longer feel discouraged with the flow of our days; we will find things to be joyous about as we walk a better way in this world.

So: First we turn aside from the ego, not by resisting it, but by simple turning away. To resist is to make stronger, the last thing that we want. Just turn aside from egotistical leanings, choose nothing out of ego, and see if the intangible blessings of God do not rain down upon our heads. Then turn to God’s way of thinking, the way that He meant for his creations to think. This turning inward to the Christ Self is calm and peaceful, a new day indeed. And when we turn inward to our Self, we are guided in even more precise ways to reach God again—in illusion no longer, but in true reality.

Bringing Love to Us and Us to Love

“You do not yet believe nor understand that the urges that you feel are real, and neither good nor bad. Your feelings in truth come from love, your response to them is what is guided by fear. Even feelings of destruction and violence come from love. You are not bad, and you have no feelings that can be labeled so. Yet you are misguided concerning what your feelings mean and how they would bring love to you and you to love.” (ACOL, C:5.11)

We are told in this passage that we are not “bad.” But so often we think that we are. This is the ego finding fault with us once again. We live in fear when we response to our feelings with trepidation. This is so unnecessary, so unnecessary: “Your feelings in truth come from love, your response to them is what is guided by fear.”

Jesus makes the startling assertion here also that even our feelings of destruction and violence come from love. We cannot understand this; there is no point in trying. Just open our minds to the concept. We don’t need to act on feelings of destruction and violence, of course, and we would be very wise not to do so. We are misguided, in that we don’t know how to transmute these destructive and violent feelings. For this transmuting we need guidance. And guidance is always forthcoming when we ask.

The best thing that we can do is to accept all of our feelings, even the so-called “bad” ones. Just accept. That does not mean to condone, because we would all be better off if we could quickly and easily get rid of the negative emotions. Praying them away works. It may be practically the only thing that works.

Prayer works in so many ways, but not to a God Whom we perceive as outside ourselves. For He is we, we are a part of Him. Until we take this truth and assimilate it, we will be lost in miseries and tragedies, the tragedy of the human condition.

The human condition does not have to be tragic. We will ultimately inhabit an elevated Self of form, which is the enlightened Self Who is now deep within, layered over by illusions that seem to have no end of trouble for us. We do not have to lament the physical body, for the physical body can be elevated to a good thing. Let us do so today.

If you would awaken, then mellow out. The genius of enlightenment is that it is so calm, so tranquil. It is true that some who go through Awakening do so from a very chaotic point of departure—depression and the like. And these transitions to enlightenment can be, but do not have to be, traumatic. The best way to ease into enlightenment is to welcome it with mellowness. The glimpses of Awakening show us an invulnerable self, even the personal self, that is transmuted into something that blesses every part of us and our days.

Our feelings are to be accepted, even the so-called bad ones. But we don’t act on the bad ones, and sooner or later they fall away—when we catch enough glimpses of the Christ-consciousness toward which we are all moving.

Ask for help today in lengthening the glimpses that come to us, the glimpses of Christ-consciousness. This is a prayer fully in line with God’s desires for us. There is no better prayer, no better way to spend our prayer time.

Our Heart Knows Love

“We are beginning now to paint you a new picture, a picture of things unseen before but visible to your heart if not your eyes. Your heart knows love without a vision of it.” (ACOL, C:5.7)

Both A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love tell us that our physical eyes do not really see anything except illusions. So the physical eyes cannot be depended upon for real vision. And by “vision,” Jesus means an intuitive as well as rational understanding of what true reality really is. And this always includes love, harmony, peace, joy, and the like. It doesn’t includes anything material, and we are urged not to ask for the materialistic, because it normally means that we are feeding the ego.

As we get this far along in A Course of Love, Jesus is introducing to us what the heart can see and the physical eyes cannot. He knows that our heart is for feeling, and that feeling envelops us in a way that the mind does not. The heart draws us in, and when we are open to listening to our heart, we are drawn ever closer to the Christ-consciousness (enlightenment, Awakening) that is the purpose behind ACOL. We are meant to awaken, and when we make a decision that we want to do so, heaven and earth move to give us our request. When we have been purified, meaning that the fear and judgment from the depths of our being has been brought to the surface and opened to the light, then God is ready to grant us our request for enlightenment. He waits on us. He is always ready, but we are not.

Our heart does know love. And making Love our priority is of major importance in our desire to awaken. So it stands to reason (at least my reason) that when we listen to our heart and know love, we will walk ever closer to Christ-consciousness. This interpretation is an emphasis in The Way of Mastery, another work that is attributed to Jesus (as Jeshua, said to be his preferred name, because it emphasizes his humanity).

We cannot will our way to enlightenment. To try to do so is to have a demanding spirit, and surrender—not a demand–is the only correct attitude toward God. We surrender to Him, we live for His purpose, and we know love—for He teaches it to us.

Living Love is the best way to live. And, indeed, in the new world that we will be creating when we walk God’s pathway, it is the only way to live. Think of Love today often. Our day will go better, indeed, it will go the best.

A New World Will Arise

“This foreign world where you have been so lonely and afraid will linger for a while where it can terrify you no longer, until finally it will fade away into the nothingness from which it came as a new world rises up to take its place.” (ACOL, C:4.27)

This “new world” is not different from the familiar earth, but our perceptions are transformed, and so everything and everyone looks different. Our perceptions will have been cleansed when we reach Christ-consciousness, Awakening, enlightenment. We will have transformed the mind all the way down through the subconscious, and this purification means that everything and everyone will seem different. But it is we who have changed. Would this purification not be something that we ask the Holy Spirit or the inner Christ Self to effect?

With the ego ruling our minds, we have, for as long as we can remember and eons earlier, been lonely and afraid. We have thought that we are encased in a body, a solitary creature all alone in the world. For regardless of how many special relationships we surrounded ourselves with, we still knew in our depths that these might end for us. Either a premature ending, or by death, and we never knew the day nor the hour.

When we move into finding glimpses of Awakening, we will lose our fear of being solitary, with no one to help us. We will feel safety in the depths, and with this safety comes the peace that passeth understanding. We will no longer be terrified by this foreign world. We will know for sure that it is illusion, and illusion cannot harm us.

So pay attention to the thoughts that well up within us today. A purification of our thoughts needs to happen for Awakening to occur. If we cooperate with this procedure, listening always for guidance, we will accelerate the process of coming to know true living—a true living that is directed by the Christ Self, not the ego. We have to be willing to turn on a dime, when our guidance so dictates. We have to be willing to listen, all the time, to that guidance.

The way is not distant for many of us. Seekers will find, and then, as A Course of Love says, we will seek no longer. We will have found.

Peace Breaks Out with Glad Rejoicing

“We will begin by working on a state of neutrality in which the war is no longer fought, the daily battles cease. Who wins and who loses is not of concern to us here. Peace has not yet come. But the white flag of surrender has been waved and dropped upon a hallowed ground where neutrality will for a short time reign before peace breaks out with glad rejoicing.” (ACOL, C:2.22)

When we seek to change from the state of insanity to something sane, we may need to take it step-by-step. A state of neutrality may need to happen first, before our movement into Christ-consciousness. We, in this state, remain open to all that would be shown to us. We are surrendered to whatever may happen. We will not have to wait long.

Our lives get better at this point of surrender. We are no longer fighting daily battles, because we are endeavoring to live the life that God would have us live. We have fought such battles in fighting life and the best that we have in us. Our ego has undermined our good intentions, and, of course, we know that good intentions are never enough. Our ego would undermine anything that we sought to do better, because surrender means that the ego dies. The ego knows this.

We are gradually walking into the sunlight. We are not fighting useless and senseless battles any longer. We are resting a bit in neutrality, waiting for peace to arrive. And arrive it will, and soon. We need this peace.

Be assured that our time of trials is almost over. When we surrender to God, following guidance of the Christ Self, we know a peace that will never leave us. We are experiencing real love for God, and He knows that all we need to Awakening is to experience this love consistently. He will not tarry long before He looks in on us—and then the blessing of Awakening will rest upon us.

Pray that none of us will have long to wait.

The Easy Way Out

“Resign as your own teacher. Accept me as your teacher and accept that I will teach you the truth. Find no shame in this. You cannot learn what I would teach you without me. You have tried in countless ways and can try still again. But you will not succeed. Not because you are not smart enough. Not because you will not try hard enough. But because it is impossible. It is impossible to learn anything on your own. Your determination to do so only blocks your learning. It is only through union with me that you learn because it is only in union with me that you are your Self.” (ACOL, C:1.10)

In this passage Jesus asserts that his Self and our Self are one. And that we need him to make proper decisions. On our own, we cannot choose rightly; we just get lost in mindless meandering. Here Jesus is taking his place in this teaching volume of A Course of Love as our teacher. (Toward the end of ACOL, he will resign as our teacher, saying that we have now learned from him, and that he is our companion in the future.)

We cannot learn on our own, even when we try the hardest. We need a wiser soul to take charge and lead us out of the maze in which we find ourselves. And Jesus, as our savior, takes this task of leading us out unto himself. What a blessing for us this really is! We don’t have to struggle to get free of eons of bad choices. He will show us the easy way out of the mess that we have made of our lives. He knows how to do it, and he is using A Course of Love as one gigantic teaching tool.

There are other pathways, of course. But if we find an affinity with A Course of Love, it behooves us to accept the savior who is channeling that work. And I believe that this is indeed Jesus. Many others believe this as well. And indeed we find many wise sayings in ACOL that vie for a place among the best advice ever given.

Let Jesus help today. Read the first volume of ACOL with new eyes. Accept Jesus as the savior, the teacher, who can lead us into creating the new world that he so wants us to become part of. What do we have to lose but our agony?

In Patience Possess Our Souls

Note: There is a new page at the top of this blog, entitled “Viewers’ Posts.” One individual is posting daily. You are welcome to post; just add a comment to that page.

“Oh, Child of God, you have no need to try at all, no need to be burdened or to grow tired and weary. You who want to accomplish much good in the world realize that only you can be accomplished. You are here to awaken from your slumber. You are here not to awaken to the same world, a world that seems a little more sane than before but still governed by insanity, a world in which it seems possible to help a few others but certainly not all others, but to awaken to a new world. If all that you see changed within your world is a little less insanity than before, then you have not awakened but still are caught in the nightmare your ego has made. By choosing to reject yourself you have chosen to try to make sense of the nightmare rather than to awaken from it. This will never work.” (ACOL, C:P.14)

We need to forgive ourselves as well as others; this is what Jesus is saying when he notes that we tend to reject ourselves, to make sense of the nightmare in which we find ourselves. Until we forgive, we are sitting in judgment, and we know that judging complicates our minds and makes us feel uneasy, ill-at-ease, awkward, and afraid. No one can judge and hope to live well. So let’s give up the rejection of ourselves, the judging, the lack of forgiveness, as a bad way to interact with our very entity.

We can find a little way through this world just by living the holy dreams that the Holy Spirit sends; these are happy dreams. But if we are content just to dream dreams, we are making compromises with reality. We are only a little sane, and we need and want to wholly sane.

True sanity comes with Christ-consciousness, and Christ-consciousness usually comes in stages, in glimpses. We intuit the end long before we experience it. And the intuition leads to an Awakening that doesn’t have to be traumatic. We will led gently, as down a garden path. Indeed, we might think of our pathway toward ultimate salvation as a garden path.

Jesus calls us “the accomplished” in ACOL. What does this mean? It means that we have made progress—finally. But it is not a progress that the ego would anticipate. It is progress that we make in humility, but not in self-abasement. We give ourselves credit for how far we have walked in this garden of a world. We give ourselves credit for what the Christ Self has accomplished in us to integrate mind and heart into wholeheartedness.

We are easy with ourselves, content to know that we are doing what Jesus has encouraged. We don’t denigrate our progress, nor do we exalt ourselves in a final burst of egoic thinking. We just attend to our business in this world, and that is our Father’s business, just like Jesus in the synagogue at age 12.

Have patience. At the end of the third part of A Course of Love, the “Days” of the Dialogues, Jesus indicates that we may make the trip to the mountaintop many times, though this is not his wish for us. But we may go many times in our reading. This in itself is not bad. The time is already set, and there may be little that we can do to speed up that time of the coming of Christ-consciousness.

Above all, don’t get frustrated about our perceived slowness. Jesus would not have that. He is ever-patient with us, and we must be so with ourselves.

PART 3: WHAT IS TRUE REALITY? CHARACTERISTICS OF REALITY

We Are Spirits Having a Bodily Experience

“The miracle sets reality where it belongs. Reality belongs only to spirit, and the miracle acknowledges only truth.” (ACIM, T-1.IV.2)

We are spirits having a bodily experience. We are not primarily bodies. Even when we have reached Christ-consciousness, and even when we have sustained that Christ-consciousness, living the elevated Self of form that Jesus extols, we still are, at base spirits. Our spirits can recognize a miracle when we see one. Skepticism has been discarded, and we revel in the glory of a true reality that is always and only miraculous.

Our true reality has spirit, then, at its base. And until we recognize this as what true reality really means, we will be to some extent at loose ends. We like physicality, or we would not have incarnated in flesh. Don’t you think we had some choice in the matter? (A Course of Love is silent on this question.) If we did have some choice, then it is true, as Jesus says, that the choice to occupy an elevated Self of form in an eternity is really ours.
Nobody needs to make a decision like this now. The world as it exists today would not be desirable as an eternal home. But a portion of the entity who we are might very well choose to live on this earth, bringing ourselves and others to salvation. Jesus says in A Course in Miracles that the return of everyone to God may take millions of years. We do not have to be daunted by this suggestion. We can, instead, be grateful that our existence is about to take on new meaning in this world. We have the means before us to reach Christ-consciousness, to live with miracles surrounding us all the time. We have the new revelations (as I view them) of A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love. Both books speak to our time, in language that understands secular psychology (hence the emphasis on the “ego”) and, at the same time, acknowledges the depth of generations to a mystical tradition.

We are truly in an enviable position now. We are in the time of Christ, a time awaited by many for centuries before us.

Give Up Isolation as a False Idea

“You communicate with no one, and you are as isolated from reality as if you were alone in all the universe. In your madness you overlook reality completely, and you see only your own split mind everywhere you look.” (ACIM, T-13.V.6)

Reality is not isolated, a theme that I have emphasized in this blog. We can derive great comfort from hearing that we are not meant to be fiercely independent, separate from each other in splendid isolation. We are meant to lean on each other, to share, to join. We are not going to be able to live independently all the time anyway; life will pull the rug out from under us at pivotal points, and we do not need to rue this experience. We may chastise ourselves, thinking that we are too “weak” at such times. But this is a misnomer. We are never meant to go it alone. We don’t have to do so. Nothing in life or in our experience demands this of us.

What a blessing this actually is! We now know, if we take to heart this quotation, that we are joined to one another. We are differentiated in relationship, but we are in unity as One. And so we are actually joined one to the other.

We need to communicate with each other. We don’t need to stay in madness, with a split mind of separation and unity vying for ascendancy. The mind is split, all of our minds. The Holy Spirit (as A Course in Miracles would say) or the inner Christ mind (as A Course of Love would say) are “struggling” to take over, thereby freeing us. But there are probably still elements of the egoic, separated mind that vie for ascendancy.

But we know enough now that we don’t want the ego to try to run our lives. This ego is actually the “devil” or “Satan” that we have feared. But as a product of our own thinking, the ego does not require our fear of it. It is just best turned aside from. Not in resistance, for that will make the ego strong, because defense makes what it would defend against. Instead, just know that we need a whole mind, split no longer between unity and separation. The way is clear. Just sense our joining one with another, and our ego will be undone. Immediately, though it may arise from time to time, over and over, until banished for good in Awakening or Christ-consciousness.

Our World Has No Boundaries

“Through this transparency, the reality of the One Self being also the many, or the all, is apparent. The spaciousness of love, the lovely complexity of form, the awesome majesty of nature, all are visible within the One Self because of the invisibility of the one boundary-less Self of form.” (ACOL, Dialogues, Day 13, 13.6)

This quotation is part of the theology of A Course of Love, and it needs some context. We are said, once we reach Christ-consciousness, to live in a “spacious self.” This spacious self, encompasses areas outside of ourselves, enfolding others, whether they be exhibiting positive or negative traits. But others are not badly influenced by this enfoldment; they are helped by it, for we are all One Self, One with God. Our Self is therefore “boundary-less,” even though we have form, physical bodies.

We see many other bodies that don’t all look as we do, and this is part of the “complexity of form.” But we don’t make judgments, as did the ego, about these other bodies that are diverse. We welcome such complexity, some diversity, yet knowing all the while that we are really One with others, One with God, and One in our innermost being, the inner Christ Self.

Don’t let the theology throw you. Jesus doesn’t require that we understand with our thinking mind. He wants us to experience with our open heart. And in the openness of heart, we will come to experience and to understand.

And that is all that is required.

Sense the Vibes

“Imagine the air around you being visible and your form an invisible space within the visible surroundings. This is the reality of Christ-consciousness. Consciousness may seem to be embodied by form but the reverse is true and has always been true.” (ACOL, Dialogues, Day 12, 12.2)

The assertion in this quotation may seem very strange indeed. But there is a Oneness to reality that we often miss. The Self that we are exists out in the open; inside, we all too often miss the mark, especially if we haven’t yet opened to the inner Christ. Our little bodies don’t keep the Self apart from our environment. Intuitively we know this, for do we not sense “vibes” that are seemingly outside of us? Of course, we all do sense these vibes, though we may not, until later on, put much credence in them.

Now is the time to put credence in vibes. We will live much better, for these psychic attunements are evidence that we are opening to a larger reality.

So consciousness is outside of our physical bodies, our physical form. We are a solid mass of physicality in our bodies, but we exist in the ether. We are not isolated, encased in bodies. When we think about this a little, we will be reassured.
Despite what the ego used to tell us, we don’t really want to be so independent of each other. We know, somehow, somewhere, that we are mean to be in concert with one another. This sharing of being is what life is really all about, what life is about when it is truly lived.

Let’s truly live life today, sharing and in concert with one another.

Every Day Better in Every Way as We Walk into Wholeness

“This change is predicated on all the changes that have come before it, including, and most particularly, on that which was most recently spoke of, that of apprehending the new reality of wholeness. It is not wholeness that is new, but the reality of wholeness that is new. The reality of being able to experience the variability of separation from within the state of wholeness is what is new.” (ACOL, Dialogues, Day 18, 28.8)

Have we really left separation behind? Yes, we have, though in the beginning of sensing wholeness, we will still know some of what is in the house of illusion, and that is the “variability of separation.” A Course of Love indicates that we are in the house of truth, but outside the house of illusion—because the house of truth encompasses the All, the house of illusion as well. We don’t try to go back in and pull out those who are still trapped within the house of illusion; that is not our task, our role. We witness from the house of truth. And that is all.

Wholeness is a blessing that ought to be sought, for our sight is much keener when we are seeing the whole. What does wholeness mean? It seems to me to be the last step on the pathway to Christ-consciousness, surely the greatest wholeness of all. If we see in totality, we see accurately, but this does not mean that we are still always lost in illusions of what true reality really means. We have moved beyond that, and we have indeed made great progress to have done so.

We are after true reality, and the reality of wholeness is new to us. This creation of the new is a major theme of A Course of Love. We would leave behind our leaden feet as we walk sprightly on, with Jesus holding our hand. He will do so, though no one on earth can imagine how that might be. Perhaps he clones himself; perhaps souls that are very advanced can do such things. Seeing and sensing Jesus have been reported by many in traditional Christianity, and so this assertion (which occurred in A Course in Miracles) does seem more plausible than not.

The means are there for us. We need only ask for help. And then the reality of wholeness will be a surety for us. We will not wander, aimless and alone, in a forest of malcontent. Every day will get better, an improvement over the one before.

Walk into a New State of Being

“A new state of being is a new reality. It is linked with your notion of who and where you are, for who you are and where you find yourself, and experience yourself, are your reality.” (ACOL, Dialogues, Day 29, 29.7)

Which of us would not sometimes want a new reality? A new “you”?

I venture that this receding mirage is in a dream in all of us. And the surprising thing is that here A Course of Love says, Jesus says, that this new state of being is a new reality, a new reality that we are can have, indeed are entitled to.
What a blessing! (I say that so often in this blog, for there are so many blessings in our reading of ACIM and ACOL.) This new reality will be one, according to ACOL, of the heart—or the heart and mind joined in twain, wholeheartedness.

This wholeheartedness is such a comfort on rainy, gray days. And even a sunny day can take on the dreariness of a gray day if we are not cognizant of our many blessings. We can have this new reality. I don’t think that the new reality comes just as we awaken; I think that it comes prior to that. In A Course in Miracles, we hear of the “happy dreams that the Holy Spirit brings,” and we are comforted. In A Course of Love, we are bade to listen to the inner Christ Self, and to be comforted thereby. (We have been told that we are living now in the time of Christ, that the time of the Holy Spirit is past.) Would it not make sense that the Self could and would comfort even before Christ-consciousness descends upon us.

I am a case in point, because I have not yet awakened. I sometimes wonder how I can help others if that is my situation, but when we are in the same boat, that help comes easily. I know where you are coming from. And some of that is frustration, for we want it all—not in an egoic sense, but right in line with divine wishes for us. Yet if we have not yet awakened, there is a reason, just one that we don’t yet know. And we can reach out and speak to those in a similar situation. We can be patient, learning through observation, vision, and revelation (from ACOL).

Living Our Christ-conscious Self

“We discuss being what you represent in truth. We discuss the elevation of form. And what we have discussed thus far is the acceptance of form as what it is. This is the new reality you have desired. To live as who you are in form.” (ACOL, Dialogues, 5.19)

Jesus describes in A Course of Love that it is entirely possible to live in this world in our bodies as our real Selves. He calls it occupying the “elevated Self of form.” This is a condition that is ego-less, in that we are not living the little, or personal, self that is ruled by the ego—but instead living as our Christ-conscious Self, the inner Christ Self whom we all have in our depths.

At one point Jesus talks about this situation as a new choice, never made before in our world, and he says that he will not predict the future, that he does not have the means to know what we will do with this new embodied Christ-conscious Self in form (in body).
This new choice is probably welcomed by many of us, for we are used to the physical body and have difficulty imagining ghost-like embodiments, such as we might enjoy after death. We like our bodies. We don’t like our separated state, embodying an ego that doesn’t mean us well and leads us into suffering.

The good news is that when we eliminate the blocks to love’s awareness, we can come into our own as Selves. We can be Christ-conscious, which is another way of saying Awakening or enlightenment. This new state, never before sustained, is the aim at which A Course of Love moves. A new identity. And all of us need to give up attack, give up judging, give up planning (unless guided to do so), and give up fear/anxiety. These are barriers to the new reality.
