“The Wind of Our Angelic Spirit”

“Give your imagination to the reality of the universe.  Let it extend to the mystery.  In silence and stillness, feel the beat of our wings, the wind of our angelic spirit.”  Choose Only Love bk.3, 11:I

Here the angels and Jesus are asking us to feel reverence and a soaring spirit about all that we have been given. When we let our spirits soar, we are in gratitude for the blessings of our lives, for our universe, for our Maker Himself. And gratefulness is its own reward.

We can discover much from following our imagination. Be reassured that we have the power of God at our backs. The mystery of the universe is with us.

Be blessed today.

Imagination

“For remember an ancient truth we once gave you:  You cannot imagine that which you have not experienced, for imagination is the picturing in the conscious mind.  That picturing must come forth from something.”  (“The Way of Transformation,” The Way of Mastery, Chapter 17, Page 202)

A difficult concept, but I have read things that will elucidate this quotation. A Course in Miracles says that we the past will roll up like a carpet when we are through with the world as we know it, that we are revisiting the past. Neale Donald Walsch’s Conversations with God says that all reality is like a CD from which we choose experiences; if the experience is not already in the Mind of God, on that CD, we cannot experience it.

Do we see, then, how imagination must have something to cling to? We cannot go outside the Mind of God, of Whom we are a part. And if God did not first “think” it, we could not have it in our experience.

Give our imagination free rein today. See what comes out that we would like to experience, for we can have it–if not immediately, then somewhere in the eons ahead of us, for we live in an eternity.

The imagination works best when we are in revelry, sitting quietly and feeling peaceful.

See quietly today and see what comes up into the conscious mind and heart.

Memory of God

“The world cannot keep you down in its insanity.  The eyes of the body close, and as they close, the world they had shown you recedes and the real world appears.”  (“The Way of Transformation,” Way of Mastery, Chapter 15, Page 186)

When we close our eyes and return to a memory of God, we are set to open our eyes on a different world, a real world.  When we are living in love, we are living in reality.  Of course, our world still exists in the realm of thought, because all material things will one day disintegrate and return to energy, which is another, secular, word for God.   Matter, I believe, is just slowed down energy, but the thought that makes matter is still one with God.

We have been living a dream, an illusion.  Now we are set to see a change to true reality, to a life that we have not been able to imagine in our wildest imaginings.

We are free to embrace God at any moment.  I can imagine that He has been waiting for this moment of embrace.

Let’s tell Him we love Him.  And then feel His presence.

Return Us to the Pathway to God

“. . .[A]s you have created your journey away from God in your imagination, so too do you imagine—or bring into the form of images—the very pathway that returns you to your true reality.”  (“The Way of Transformation,” WOM, Chapter 15, Page 180)

Our imagination runs deep; it creates our true reality.  This way of viewing life is reassuring in the extreme.  We never actually left God, for we are a part of Him, and we cannot separate from our Source.  But we thought we left him, and our imagination in this delusion made for havoc.

Let’s put all this nonsense behind us today.  We can.  If we will enlarge our trust of God, He will do the rest.

We want to return to true reality, a reality that has left the ego in the dust.  Leave egotism.  Choose love in every instance.  This can sometimes be “tough love,” but love, if viewed rightly, is our holy way of returning to God for real.

Use some time today to imagine the world we really want.  Then watch the form take shape.

This creation will give us comfort as well as ensure that our days ahead will be filled with promise.

Imagining Jesus’ Lifetime

“As you come to feel grounded, rooted in that deep and silent place, ask whatsoever you will and its answer shall not be hidden from you. Ask to witness my lifetime as I walked upon your Earth, and it will be shown to you. Ask to be shown the vibrational field in which you were conceived in this life; it will not be hidden from you. Ask whatever you would about a friend, who perhaps has seemed troubled of late, and the source of what is occurring within them will be gently revealed to you.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Lesson 11, Page 137)

This quotation says startling things that are actually great blessings. Would we not want to know more? When we are grounded in our walk through this world, we develop certain powers that are not available to us when we live on the surface of life.

This is a “knowing.” We don’t imagine, develop figments of the imagination or flights of fancy. This knowing leads us by the hand and gives us a better way to view life.

These are the new gifts that come to us as we walk farther along our pathway back home.

These are gifts that hurt nobody, and that offer a solace to ourselves, as well as our brothers and sisters.

Be sure to say “thank You” to God for these new, psychic gifts.

We Choose Our Experiences

“Just as you would go to a grocery store and choose what you will have for dinner and then go home and experience your creation so too do you choose each experience. When you choose a perception, you lodge it in the mind. Then it expresses itself through the body, through the environment that you create around yourself and through the friends that you would call into your awareness. Every aspect of the life you live is the symbol of what you have chosen to experience and, therefore, to convey throughout creation.” (“The Way of the Heart,” WOM, Chapter 2, Page 13)

Jesus seems here, almost certainly, to be saying that we create our own reality. This is a maxim of the New Age movement, made popular by Jane Roberts’ Seth, about the time that A Course in Miracles was being scribed. We surround ourselves with what we want, though if we are in need, it isn’t our personalities or personas that has made the lack, but our souls. Our soul knows the full chart of our life plan. Our soul then conveys to the learning being, also called the Self, or the Christ-Self (from A Course of Love) what we need to know. We will never, on earth, find a reason for lack/suffering/pain that will satisfy us, we can rest easy that there is an Answer, but that we are simply not enlightened enough to comprehend this eternal question.

We create the environment around us. We project from within, and from this a perception of the world arises. Elsewhere The Way of Mastery (the Christ-Mind Trilogy) and A Course in Miracles say that this world is an illusion of a real world. Some readers of A Course of Love demur from this interpretation, seeing in the true reality beyond Awakening or Christ-consciousness, a hope that something more is going on, that the rocks, trees, oceans, are becoming real in a new way.

We do not have to bear this cross. We do not have to join in this controversy. I don’t think that this particular problem, a matter of metaphysics, matters to Jesus at all. I think it simply doesn’t matter to him that we have differing views. Certainly physical reality is real enough to us here in our time on earth. We can debate metaphysical ideas on the Other Side, where we will presumably know more than it is given us to know in this plane.

It is enough that we create our own reality. This will be hard enough for us to handle. Remember that one is meant to have compassion on suffering, not increase it by blame of the one suffering. While there are no true victims, we are simply not astute enough to avoid blaming the victim, unless we hold them in the same love-filled vision that Jesus would.

Use our imagination to create a better reality for us. Use our imagination to realize that Jesus is right by our side, holding our hand, as we walk through this world. His help will give us a warmth and peace that we have heretofore lacked.

Let Our Imaginations Out to Play

“We will talk much more of imagining now, and you may, at first, be resistant to this instruction. To imagine is too often associated with daydreaming, fiction, or make-believe, and these functions are all prescribed to be for certain parts of your life and for certain times that you deem appropriate. Please assure yourself, as I assure you, that now is an appropriate time, an essential time, for such activity. Your thoughts regarding imagining and imagination will change with your change in perspective on use. You will no longer be using your imagination but letting your imagination be of service to you.” (ACOL, C:22.1)

Letting our imagination be of service to us is another way of saying that we will turn to revelation to solve our problems. We do not have to wonder if we are engaging in fantasy. We are letting our hearts and minds work in tandem to fulfill all of the needs that we perceive. And our needs will be met, though our wants may not be. And our needs are met at the point of need. With every problem, the solution is right there alongside of it.

It is instructive to let the mind wander when faced with an intractable issue. We need to get in the alpha state of mind, a relaxed state of consciousness, that is mellow and calm enough to let solutions rise to the surface of the mind. This mellowness assures us that we are not in an angry or hostile state of mind; we are inviting guidance from the depths.

And that guidance will come. Sometimes it helps to present a problem to the subconscious mind, the Self within, and then go about our day. Often, and very often, the solution will appear in consciousness as soon as we let go the issue. We don’t struggle or put ourselves in a state of great effort; we just let go.

Let our imaginations serve us today. Imagination can create a dialogue with Jesus, an exercise, on paper, that can be most instructive. Of course, we are using our imaginations to wonder what he might say to us, but we use our imaginations willingly, knowing that while we might be wrong, we will still gain from the exercise.

Let the imagination serve us today. The results will be positive, rewarding, and conclusive.

Prayer

Dear Father/Mother,

Thank You for guiding my mind to this technique of utilizing the imagination to solve problems. Often I imagine what Jesus might say to me, and this is calming in the extreme. I do not get lost in fantasies. Instead, I keep my feet on the ground, even as my head is in the clouds.

Be with me today. I long for Your solace throughout my day, and, thankfully, You grant this solace to me.

Thank You.
Amen.

A Palpable Presence

“You will soon develop an ability to see without your body’s eyes. This, too, will seem like a silly game at first, a trick of your imagination. You will, at first, observe only that which you can “see”— your arms and legs, your shadow falling as you walk—but more and more you will come to see the body as a whole. You will see it from behind as you follow it about its day, without, at first even being aware that this is happening.” (ACOL, C:10.27)

This exercise is a continuation from yesterday’s exercise. We will “follow” our bodies around, seeing that they are not the whole of us. And in so doing, we will come to realize that our Self is simply using this form to have an experience of living. This is what we will later come to see as the “elevated Self of form.”

This exercise is hot a silly game, though it may appear to be. When we use our imaginations to play such games, we are really seeing true reality. And true reality is what we want above all else. It is the way that we come to know God. And our Self. And the way that we learn that these Two are actually one.

Use our imaginations today. See what will transpire in this exercise. We can recognize that nothing bad will come of it, and something exceedingly good may.

Follow Jesus’s advice in this way. He will guide, following us around even as our bodies follow us around. But he is far more real than our bodies. And the love that he feels for us can be felt. A real palpable presence.

Use Imagination to Create a New World

“Still you find it difficult to believe that what is possible depends upon what you can imagine being possible. You must cease to see the difficulty and begin to see the ease with which what you can imagine becomes reality.” (ACOL, 23.17)

A Course of Love takes us from a different place than A Course in Miracles. In many respects, A Course of Love is a continuation of ACIM, and we have grown through our understanding of ACIM to stand at a different place, a better place in our search for salvation.

We can use our better vision to imagine a better world. And Jesus says that these imaginings will bear fruit. We easily create a new world. We don’t have to struggle ever again. The way is clear, the way is safe. We are walking a safe earth.

We earlier might have thought that it would be a lot of work to move into a new world. But Jesus says that this difficulty is not there. We can imagine with ease, and in the imagining we ourselves take ourselves, through the Self, to a better world. Our work is not finished, but just begun—yet the way does not seem long to us, and the way seems joyous to us. We are following a higher plan to create a better world. We change ourselves internally first, of course, for nothing born of the ego can change meaningfully. When we have divested ourselves of the ego, we will move swiftly into a new creation. And we will move with ease, as this quotation says.

When What You Imagine Becomes Reality

pissarro-montmartre-night“Still you find it difficult to believe that what is possible depends upon what you can imagine being possible.  You must cease to see the difficulty and begin to see the ease with which what you can imagine becomes reality.  (A Course of Love, 23.17)”

Affirmation:  “I would imagine what I wish to see created.”

Reflections:

1 – Law of Attraction

This is the way that A Course of Love states the law of attraction, or like creates like.  If we imagine strongly enough, we will have that which we seek.  If we imagine good, good will come to us.  In a warning, we also must realize that if we imagine the bad, the bad may also come to us (though God protects us to a degree).

2 – Imaging the Good

There is no difficulty is imaging the good.  We can steep ourselves in A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love, the Bible, or inspirational literature.  We can look to others for guidance that will help to take us home.  We are not bereft in this world of ways in which we can learn how to imagine the good.  We need only to look around ourselves to see how to create the good.

3- Creating

“Create” is the operative word here, for in Christ-consciousness we are creating rather than “making.”  And we all have had, by now, glimpses of Christ-consciousness, or we would not have read this far or studied A Course of Love through the passages indicated.  We are ready.  And we will have ease in what we create from our imaginings.

4 – Be Careful of What You Dwell Upon

The passage for today is particularly reassuring.  It says that what we imagine will easily come to pass, will easily be created.  The only proviso is that we must be careful of what our thoughts dwell upon.  If we think of negative things, then negative things will come to us.  If we think of positive, the positive will come.  And we all know which is better.

5 – Ease

“. . .[T]he ease wtih which what you can imagine becomes reality.”  What a blessing this is!  May we watch our minds and hearts carefully today, to be sure that what we dwell upon is really what we want.

Prayer:

Dear Father/Mother,

I do not fully understand the law of attraction, and I do realize that You protect us to a degree, in that there is a delay before negative things spiral down upon us.  And we must be careful not to tie You to a formula.  You are not, in my opinion, a genie in a bottle, bent on doing our bidding.  Maybe our bidding would not be good for us, and then You will often say “no” to our requests.  This is traditional religious thinking, and I see no reason to depart from it now.

Be with us as we consider the importance of what we consider our “idle thoughts.”  Jesus says in A Course in Miracles that all thinking produces form at some level.  And so we need to watch our minds carefully.  There is really no such thing as an idle thought.

May today be good.  May we give up the obsessions that sometimes threaten our peace of mind.  And may we ask only what what would be good for us and others.  May we not include selfish prayers that benefit no one, including ourselves.  Let us acknowledge that there are mysteries here that we do not understand fully, and we need to tread softly.

Amen.

Let Jesus Take Your Hand

“I do not attack your ego.  I do work with your higher mind, the home of the Holy Spirit, whether you are asleep or awake, just as your ego does with your lower mind, which is its home.  (T65)”

Affirmation:  “Work with my higher mind.”

Reflections:

1 – Elder Brother

This is Jesus speaking.  He is our elder brother (a Course concept), willing to help at any and all times.  It is important that Jesus does not attack our egos.  Elsewhere he tells us that attack is never justified, and he himself exemplifies this assertion.

2 – How to Solve Problems

As time goes by, and we have spent more of that time studying A Course in Miracles, we may find that our mind delivers to us, perhaps psychically, the answers to our questions and the answers to our problems.  It is normally better to pray (or “commune”), ask our question, express thanks with the assurance that the answer will come, and then get busy with something else.  Then and only then does it help to get quiet and to ask again.  It is very, very likely that the answer that has been eluding us will pop into our minds, seemingly unbidden and with great ease and comfort, with a sense of clarity that we have heretofore lacked.  This is the miracle, visiting us in a very practical way.  This is the Holy Spirit’s attending to our needs.  And we would not forget to say “thank you” for this blessing.

3 – At One with the Holy Spirit

It is reassuring to know that we have help in trying to change our minds to be at one with the Holy Spirit.  We surely do not understand what all of this change entails, and we need counsel that is sure and lovely.  Jesus provides this, but silently, nearly always without our being aware of his presence.

4 – No Idle Fantasy

There is a passage elsewhere in the Course that invites us to imagine our holding Jesus’s hand as we go about the world.  He asserts that this is no idle fancy.  We cannot understand how this is possible, but Jesus is one who has made it Home, and we dare not doubt his word.  We never need to feel alone or lonely again.  Not only do we have Jesus, but also other companions of whom we are not usually aware.  Surely there is no reason to be afraid, though, as very human people, we will probably still succumb to this temptation to fear for ourselves.  In our better moments, passages such as the one above from the Course can be our reassurance that all is truly well.

Prayer:

Dear Father,

I need help, now and always.  Help me to keep my mind in close cooperation with the Holy Spirit, and not dip into ego-oriented desires.

May Jesus help me, as he has promised.  Then I can rest assured that all will go well for me in this world.

Amen.
