ACIM Workbook Lesson 113 – for Saturday, April 23, 2011
Affirmation: “I am one Self, united with my Creator.”
“Serenity and perfect peace are mine, because I am one Self, completely whole, at one with all creation and with God. (WB206)”
Affirmation: “Salvation comes from my one Self.”
“From my one Self, Whose knowledge still remains within my mind, I see God’s perfect plan for my salvation perfectly fulfilled. (WB206)”
Who would not want serenity and perfect peace? These promises are close to the promise that we will eventually be “perfectly calm and quiet” all the time. This means that we will disavow drama in our lives. And many of us are not ready for this. We think that we would be bored. But is drama really desirable?
Drama usually entails conflict, and attack and anger are not far behind. We are told in the Text that there is no justification for attack and anger. This is because both are a call for help, and our brother or sister wants our love. So we are bade to offer that love in the best way that would calm the troubled waters. Sometimes we say something, sometimes we remove ourselves from the scene (if our presence is troubling), and sometimes we simply pray about the situation. Of course, there are other, equally good, ways that we might respond. We must go within to find the right solution to the conflict. Given the fact that drama usually entails conflict, can we not be ready to let the drama go?
We are all one Self, because the All is One. This is a theoretical foundation of ACIM, and we would do well to contemplate what is meant, because it is not obvious. The Holy Spirit will speak to us, will enlarge our minds to comprehend, if we turn to Him. Let us do so today.
We are all One with You and with each other. Help me to comprehend this ultimate truth. I feel the smallness of my little self, the self sometimes ruled by the ego, and I would have the foolishness of the ego ended. Be with me today as I seek for You in my everyday occurrences.
Thank You for always being there for me. I know that You are there even when I am distracted and cannot let go of my emotions enough to recognize Your presence. May I recognize Your presence throughout this day.
