We Are Experiencing a Revolution in Our Thinking by Letting the Heart Rule

“And then you realize that Jesus was being God and was called Jesus Christ because he lived within Christ-consciousness, or the compas¬sionate consciousness that you share. You realize that the man, the God, the historical figure who has been called Jesus Christ was not only Jesus but Christ. Not only Christ but Jesus. Not separated but individuated. You realize that the call for the second coming of Christ has sounded and that it is a call to the difference you have always desired while not requiring you to remain separate!” (ACOL, D:Day37.10)

Christ-consciousness is here called the “compassionate consciousness that you share.” Jesus is assuming that most of us will have reached Christ-consciousness now. He may be overly optimistic. There is a speed-up going on, a “celestial speed-up” (as he told Helen regarding A Course in Miracles), but to assume that all who read through A Course of Love reach Awakening, or Christ-consciousness, right away, would be to assume wrongly. ALL of us, though have had glimpses of enlightenment. This we can recognize by the mellow feeling that we enjoy, the peace of God that passeth understanding. And we can “milk” these times of grace, elongating them by the manner in which we receive them. We don’t have to hurry off to do the next right thing on our “to do” list. We can stay with the feeling, become comfortable with it, and know that all will indeed be well.

Turning to another point, Jesus never promises in A Course in Miracles or A Course of Love that the second coming of Christ will be a bodily reincarnation of the man Jesus. He never says this. Instead, he indicates that the time that we are in now is both the “time of Christ” and the “second coming of Christ” (he uses both phrases). We are experiencing a revolution and transformation in our thinking by letting the heart rule. This is pure ACOL. The heart informs the mind, and then we have what Jesus calls “wholeheartedness.” This is when the mind and the heart work in conjunction with each other to give us the unity and relationship that will herald a new day.

Jesus was not in any way separated from God, even in illusion, as we have been. His Christ-consciousness was very real, and he lived out his life as the embodiment of Christ-consciousness.

Jesus offers us the same now. The Way of Mastery (another channeled work believed to be by Jesus) indicates that he is very, very desirous of transforming great numbers of people into Christ-conscious beings, something never done before. Our part is to remove blocks to love and to the awareness of love. This is not hard to do, given that we have been well-tutored by the master himself.

Dear God,

I hope that you will reach down and elongate my moments of mellowness today. This is the first step toward maintaining and then sustaining Christ-consciousness. I believe that Jesus is ready for all of us to reach this step. If only we weren’t so stubborn in our unbelief!

Guide me to remove the blocks to my understanding of love. Keep me aware of what true love means.
